Dear all, I have a question. I have got several e-mails complaining that my site is infested with virus. Apperntly somebody has may added a virus/script. The name of script and Trojan is: JS/Obfuscated. I dont know how to clean this. There are thousends of files in my domain. Can somebody please explain to me how to find this scrpit? How do I find which file has the script and how can I delet it? how to clean it? Further how can I prevent this in the future? Suddenly my phpBB Forum stopped working and I get the folowing error msg. Can somebody please explain to me how to get this corrected. Thank you Bruce. Its working now. I just updated the phpbb to new version. This is the second time I got this problem with this directory? Who set these permissions? Is that the user or TCH? Can I change the permissions my self? If yes How? Thanks again, Rohan

YES This directory exist for years. I already tried to have a chat with the helpdesk for 30 minutes but it did not workout! I have sent you the script!

I am trying to install the new version of phpBB. But I can not open the phpBB directory in Public_html/ Why is this? Can somebody please correct this? Domain is: LankaLibrary.com

As advised by the helpdesk I tried to update the PHPBB version 2.0.19 to 2.0.20 (Server 109) I downloaded the files and uploaded them to the corresponding directories. After the update now I have 2 problems: 1) My administrator panel says still I am running the old version 2) Search function is not working anymore: I get the following error message: What have I done wrong? This doesnt work. It blocks further posting but dose not delete the posts. BTW, I noticed in my webstat page in the cpanel some stange websites have links to my forum. When I go there I can not find the links. What are these sites? Do they send spam posters?? Some such sites are: - http*//showhappy.info/links.php - http*//cnool.info/links.php - http*//it158.info/links.php - http*//twbbs.info/links.php - http*//ettoday.info/links.php - http*//i-part.info/links.php What are these sites? http://lankalibrary.com/phpBB/ I am using phpBB. It is an open public forum and any one can post. Sometimes I note many spam postings from the same IP. I delete all spams manually. But this takes time. Is there a faster way to do this? Rohan

I thought of doing this, but was not sure how to do it. Can I directly download these files to my phpBB directory in the server or should I first download the file to my PC and then upload it to the server. Is it possible to unzip the file in the sever? Rohan

I just installed “Coppermine” from cpanel. Everything works fine except that I can not upload files (photos) to albums. I get the following error messages: "failed to open stream: Permission denied" "Error Message: Impossible to move" Can somebody help me to solve to issue? Thanks, Rohan

Hi BillH, You are a genius! As you correctly said somebody has added a hidden link to a php file in that specific place. I just removed the link and now the problem is solved. Now....I dont think this is a new record! Few months ago, my site was closed down suddenly because of excess Bandwidth usage! I noticed this on a Sunday and sent an e-mail to several TCH guys. Within, may be 2 minutes my account was upgraded free-of-charge by the Head Guru and the site was up and running again. That’s what I call super service! The site is still up and running with more than 1000 visitors a day! Thanks TCH! Rohan

Dear Friends, Apparently there is a virus (JAVA_BYTEVER.C and JAVA_BYTEVER.A) in my phpBB forum index page at: http://www.lankalibrary.com/phpBB/ As you open this page the virus get downloaded to your PC. This is detected in Symantec, eTrust and with office scan. I have already got few complains on this. Can somebody please explain to me how I can remove this virus from this page?
