See! This is what I'm talking about ... please explain "why" to us dense folks -
Cpanel Web Forgery Warning In Firefox 3
maggieroofus replied to maggieroofus's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Well, it's kind of confusing because when I clicked "create exception" (or whatever it says) and then I got what you see in the image that I posted where it said Wrong Site - I thought that in itself was another error. And no one was telling me any differently. It's kind of misleading (on their end) to those of us who aren't used to this stuff. -
Cpanel Web Forgery Warning In Firefox 3

He told me to do what I had already tried and I replied and explained that I had done that and got that error (or what seemed like an error) and no one said that I needed to go ahead and click on the "create exception" button at the bottom. Whatever ... it's working now. -
Cpanel Web Forgery Warning In Firefox 3

You will see in my previous replies that this method is not working for me. I'm getting the certificate error and also getting an error when I try to allow the exception. Yet no one seems to be telling me (step by step) how to correct this. [edit] Never mind. Just for grins I went ahead and clicked on the "confirm Security Exception" button even though I appeared to be getting another error because it says: Wrong Site Certificate belongs to a different site, which could indicate identity theft. And now it works. It would have been a whole lot easier if someone would have just pointed this out earlier instead of giving vague answers and talking in technical circles. -
Cpanel Web Forgery Warning In Firefox 3

I'm not running an online business so I'm not interested in purchasing anything. I just want to be able to access my Cpanel using Firefox 3 and know that it's secure. -
Cpanel Web Forgery Warning In Firefox 3
maggieroofus replied to maggieroofus's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Seeing as how it says "error code" I assumed it was an error. Also, I did set the exception (before even posting my previous reply), or at least I tried, and it still doesn't work. This is what I get ... You know, it would be nice if someone actually explained in detail exactly what needs to be done instead of saying "you're doing it wrong" and giving a vague explanation of what it is. I am in no way computer illiterate, however this kind of stuff is not my strong point. Not all of us can be experts at this and that's why we ask questions. -
Cpanel Web Forgery Warning In Firefox 3

It's the link that was provided with my account when I signed up and what I bookmarked and have always used. I've tried using my domain name and I get an error message from FF. -
I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this or not, but today I tried logging into Cpanel for the first time since installing Firefox 3 and I got this ... I can get in if I change my security setting not to warn me about sites suspected of forgery (just allowing the url to allowed exceptions did not work). However, my husband did some research and found this from Security Lab. Although it's referring to versions before the 11.23.3 (current version of Cpanel ) Published: 12-05-2008 Updated: 23-05-2008 Product: cPanel: cPanel 11.18 cPanel: cPanel 11.18.1 cPanel: cPanel 11.18.2 cPanel: cPanel 11.18.3 cPanel: cPanel 11.22 cPanel: cPanel 11.22.1 cPanel: cPanel 11.22.2 Severity: Medium (4.3) CVSS vector: (AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N) Attack`s vector: Victim must voluntarily interact with attack mechanism Potential loss type: Integrity Vulnerability description: Multiple cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerabilities in the WHM interface 11.15.0 for cPanel 11.18 before 11.18.4 and 11.22 before 11.22.3 allow remote attackers to perform unauthorized actions as cPanel administrators via requests to cpanel/whm/webmail and other unspecified vectors. Patch available: No In my attempt to bypass this problem I downloaded Filezilla (something I've been meaning to do anyway) but can't get logged in. It keeps timing out on me.

Ahhh, I never noticed that before. I'm on server 105 - but apparently there's something wrong because it's taking forever to load the entire page. It's never done that before.
-
I have no idea. How can I tell which server I'm on?
-
Okay, thanks. I just tried it again and it worked this time.

I'm suddenly getting this error when trying to publish a MT entry ... Got an error: Bad ObjectDriver config: Connection error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) Not sure if it's on TCH's end or mine, but I haven't done or changed anything.

I found all of the broken code, but am still very puzzled about how it ended up like that as it was in a template that I've never touched and the code was generated automatically when I configured the posting rules. Strange. But it's fixed non-the-less. Thank you!
-
I'm really confused. I see this code when I view the source code, but can NOT for the life of me figure out what template it's in or how it got broken in the first place as it's not in my main index code or any of the other templates I've actually worked with. Where should I be looking for this?
-
Thank you SO much! Somehow I HAD banned my own IP address. How, I have no idea. It's funny, the thought did cross my mind, but I didn't give it much thought because I couldn't figure out how it would have happened. Thank you SO much. I'm going to get in there and check out the code later tonight. Thanks again!
-
You know, I did ban a couple of IP address (the ones the spam came from) I'm wondering now if they somehow made their IP address show as mine. Can they do that? As for the code, I'm assuming this is all in the main index code ... right? I have no idea how the lines got broken since I haven't touched the code in over a month. Puzzling. I'm going to go check out the IP banning and see if that helps. wish me luck!

After getting a string of spam comments advertising I AM A SPAMMER sites I decided to require Type Key registrating for commenting on my blog. However, after following all the configuration instructions it's not working. My husband set up a free Type Key account and attempted to comment, but he got an error message saying he wasn't allowed to comment. In addition to that there was a really weird string of numbers and letters in the form box where his email would be. Being frustrated I tried putting everythng back the way it was, allowing non-registered commeners but setting it so they have to be approved before they show up, but it still is not working and he's still getting the same error message. I tried posting a test comment myself and I'm also getting the error message, but not the weird string of numbers and text in the email area. Anyone have any idea what's wrong? I'd really love to get the registered commenters thing working, but if not how can I at least get things back to a working condition? Also, yes, I AM rebuilding the site after every change and it's still not working. And I'm assuming that I don't need to do anything in the code itself, that choosing the proper settings in the MT control pannel will do all of that automatically ... correct? Here's what the error looks like

Mt - Local Site Path And Local Archive Path

Mt - Local Site Path And Local Archive Path
maggieroofus replied to maggieroofus's topic in Movable Type
I thin I finally got it. I had gotten it to where my entries were showing up, but they weren't showing up in my archives. Then I reset my local archive path to this ... /home/cpanelName/public_html/archives And now everything seems to be normal. I'm going to test the picture upload again (which is what started this whole mess in the first place) and see if it works right. It sometimes amazes me how something that should be so simple can end up making you want to cry. -
Up until today when posting photos in my blog I've just been using an "img src" link to where I have them hosted at SmugMug. Today I thought I'd actually try using the upload a file feature. Seemed easy enough ... yeah, right. I've tried every path configuration that seems right and I keep having problems. The two main problems are either the photo not getting uploaded to the proper place or getting error messages about my path not being valid when I try to rebuild. Here are the paths I have ... Local Site Path /home/cpanelName/public_html/index Local Archive Path ... /home/cpanelName/public_html/archives When I try to rebuild with it set like this I get this error message Writing to '/home/cpanelName/public_html/index/index.html.new' failed: Opening local file '/home/cpanelName/public_html/index/index.html.new' failed: No such file or directory I'm at a loss. I've messed something up in my paths and I can't get it straightened out. Looking in my file manager, it seems as though I've done something at some point that has caused the site to rebuild inside my public_html/images directory as I have files in there with my template names. Can someone plese tell me how the local paths should be? Edited by TCH-David: Obscured CPanel username in directory paths for security purposes.

YAY! It's working now. Thank you. In the MT help section it made it sound like i needed to put the URL in there. Now that I know it reads differently.

If the EmailVerificationSecret is not present in your mt.cfg file, you just need to add it (it can be added anywhere - I'd add it to the bottom of the file). If it is present, make sure it is uncommented (does not have a "#" at the beginning of the line). You'd configure the setting like this: >EmailVerificationSecret secretWord ...with whatever secret word you want to use. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Me again. I have another question. I seem to have it working. But when I click on the link that is sent in the verification email I get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed" message. Here's the link in the email ... http://moonjuice.us/mt//mt-add-notify.cgi?...ww.moonjuice.us Could I possibly have some of the code wrong in the redirect line? This is how I have it ... ><form method="post" action="<$MTCGIPath$>mt-add-notify.cgi"> <input type="hidden" name="blog_id" value="<$MTBlogID$>" /> <input type="hidden" name="_redirect" value="<$MTBlogURL$>http://www.moonjuice.us" /> <input name="email" size="20" /> <input type="submit" value="add" /> </form>

I had it commented out. It seems to be working now Thank you! Edited by TCH-David to obscure e-mail address - don't want those pesky spam bots picking it up!
