  1. I just learned something else. Apparently you can use other email programs for email to your site, not just the ones listed in webmail of cpanel,......but use these other programs through your domain and not an ISP (I don't know the technical term for that process). Is this how most people do it? Where can I go to find out about setting up an email program that I want through my website?
  2. Thank you for the help. I didn't realize this was the place for this type for discussion. There are some things I don't understand. How would you access it? What is the normal way? I incorrectly thought you had to go through webmail in cpanel to get your email, since that is where I set up my neomail email account (and where I send emails and where I have been trying to recieve them). I guess I don't understand how to set up and use the three webmail programs offered....how do you go about it? I just opened up my cpanel after I got hosting set up, and I saw the email stuff and set up an account there. I have been trying to get it to work that way ever since. I know I have an account set up, it tells me so. So what is a good way to access email? I would like to have it at my website (associated with it), so that I can have one place to get email permanently. What is the normal way of doing things? I like the idea of going to my website and having a link/menu option, where I can click to get my email (and log on of course so it's private). I don't know if that is possible, normal, or reccomended? I would love to know how most people do it. I just don't really know what I am doing. But I am sure I can figure it out when I learn more. Also, the domain propogated two months ago. Thank you for your help.
  3. Hello there. This appears to be the right place (and best) to ask questions. I am new to making and running a website, but I know computers decently I think. I am having a problem with email functions from cpanel. First let me explain what I am seeking to do. Right now I have a website hosted through TCH that I am setting up for a family member's business, my mom. She wants to use this webiste as her main email center for both personal and business. Obviously she wants multiple accounts. Eventually she will want about 5 accounts that can all be accessed in one location, preferably one cpanel. Right now I just need to get one set up right, I will worry about forwarding and multiple accounts later. This is the problem. I went into cpanel and set up one account. It has the "username@domainname" style email account name. I tested it. I can send emails to my generic Yahoo account, BUT I can't send anything back...be it by reply or putting in the name account name directly. I got an error message in Yahoo saying the recipient cannot be verified. So, what is going on? Why can I send email, but not recieve any? I have some other questions I will enumerate for easy responses: 1) Then comes the question of "renaming" the email account. I know it has to be associated through the website so it has to have the "@domainname.com" ending. Can I set up the different accounts to have different prefixes (if you will) and the same "@domainname.com" ending? 2) Is there one and only one specific cpanel per website? 3) Is cpanel the ONLY way to access email that comes to accounts which are set up with your website? Is there anyway to create an interface where you can click on a link on your actual website and log in to access your email...even a list of multiple accounts that way? 4) If cpanel is the only way to access emails to your website, I was assuming that you could have several accounts (even forwarding from other sites) in that cpanel. If that is so, where would you see them all to choose between them? Right now I click on webmail and I have the three email programs to choose from. Where in that process would you see all the email accounts to choose between them? 5) Also, what are the differences between the three webmail options? NeoMail, Horde, & Squirrel Mail? What are their strength and weaknesses.
