I have purchased a new Compaq laptop which originally came with XP home edition pre installed. Now whenever I try to install any other program such as Roxio DVD Creator, etc. the system at times pops up an error message box saying that the system has just recovered from a serious error and will restart. After I press the ok button a blue screen comes up with some quick error messages and the system reboots. This happens quite frequently even when I am trying to connect to the net or open an office document. I am worried could this be a sign of a faulty hardware or is just the OS. Also can I format the disk and re-install XP Professional as I have heard it is better than home edition. Will the laptop allow me to do that since it is originally designed for home edition?
