Hello there!
I found out about you guys from some posts on Web Hosting Talk. I think your forums are great!
I am about to become a Netspace Internet refugee. I don't have an account that uses cPanel (it uses DirectAdmin). Do you guys have phpMyAdmin, or some type of equivalent, for administering mySql databases? Also, do you know if I were to recreate my databases (I have 2) on a TCH server, would I be able to create a backup from my Netspace databases and then use that backup to populate the entries in the TCH databases? I just want to do this without too much pain. Any advice is appreciated.
Also, I have only one domain name, but I've played around with the idea of reselling. I don't know if that will ever happen, but if it does, is there an interface that would allow me to restrict the amount of bandwidth/diskspace on each of my resold accounts? In other words, if I purchase a 16GB/month limit for the whole group, can I limit an individual accouhnt to, say, 5 GB/month, so one account can't mess up the whole bunch?
I'm not currently using SSL, but does your dedicated SSL price include a certificate? Who issues the certificate? If I wanted to purchase my own certificate, could I, and if so, what would be the cost for a fixed IP address?
Finally, I live in California and almost all of my customers are local. My current data center is located in the SF Bay Area and this provides for very low latencies. Throughput is also fairly adequate. Your servers are a bit further away, so latency is going to be higher, but if your throughput is good, that should more than make up for it. Do you have any kind of throughput numbers? I know this may seem like a funny one, but I'm a photographer and people come to visit the site to view their photos. The longer they have to wait, the less happy they are. I've compressed the photos a lot, so full sized images are usually 30k (only one per page), and a screen full of thumbnails is usually around 70k.
Thanks a lot for any info. You guys look like a great service at a great price!
