I have read a bunch of threads, what I am looking for is a newsletter program (send out only) that allows subscribers to opt in/out. From what I have read, Dadamail is best suited for this vs Mailman, and is easier to use. To install Dadamail, can I just upload the .tar file thru the file manager in cpanel and unzip there? or do I need to unzip on my desktop and then FTP as the instructions say? It seems like some have had problems with the FTP route (changing case), and I would like to simplify the install....Thx Also, how do I add the subscribe page to the website?

Zen Cart Help - Groovy Fish Can You Help?
Feen replied to Feen's topic in Running your online business
I was able to change the "Welcome to..." and also the text "Main page sample text" but I do not know where to change the text shown below: This is the main define statement for the page for english when no template defined file exists. It is located in: /includes/languages/english/index.php Define your main Index page copy here. Also, I deleted the PM so I don't have your IM info any more. But I would be interested in the links to customization -
OK now how do I change the text on the various pages such as main page, check out success, etc. I see the 'define pages editor' in the tools section of the Admin but that only chnges some of the text. I looked for the text in 'index.php' and 'checkout success.php' under catalog/includes/languages/english but it didn't look like these were the right files.

Ok Now What Happened ...can't Access Cpanel
Feen replied to Feen's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
The site was propagated Monday night and worked fine all day yesterday -
Finally got nameservers corect, site propagated and was on my way. I installed ZenCart last night with the help of GroovyFish, and most seemed to be working ok. Could access cpanel, catalog, admin, etc. Now this morning the only way I can get to cpanel is thru the IP address. Now what is going on????
-
Yes except I left the trailing slash off, based on the instructions. Should I just forget about using the SSL for now?
-
Its almost complete. I got past most of the installation problems. I tried to setup the install using the shared TCH SSL 'https://server92.totalchoicehosting.com/~jumpint' when I try to logon to the admin area it says access denied by total choice hosting. What am I doing wrong now?? do I have to request special access to use the TCH SSL

ok did that, the instructions (readme1st.html) tell me to find a file /catalog/includes/dist-configure.php and rename it and change permissions can this be done thru file manager? I cannot find /catalog/includes I do not see an "includes" folder
-
ok getting ready to install, one question: 1) I want to install it in a folder called 'catalog', should this folder be located in the public_htm folder?
-
to upload the entire .tar file I use FTP??? correct???
-
Thanks Groovy, I will work on installing this tonight. I hope you are ready for some newbie questions. If there are any tricks I should know before starting please advise. I am very green to all of this....just learned about FTP, etc. SO simple instructions would be appreciated.

I am in the process of setting up an ecommerce site ans installed OSC. I know very little about this stuff but am working thru OSC ok. Is there any bebefit to switching to Zencart? are a lot of the contributions that are available for OSC already installed in Zencart?? how easy is it to install. Since I have not built my catalog yet, if there is a reason to switch I would like to do it now.

-
OK tried to login....No Good.....tried the account info in my email and it didn't work. I had changed my password in cpanel, so I tried the new one and it didn't work either. "No account with that information" Now what

How do I change the DNS, is that done thru cpanel?? this all new to me
-
I purchased the domain from TCH so I ignored the redirecting portion of the email, as I expected this to be taken care of.
-
Ok thanks www.jumpintolearning.com/catalog I didn't load the site yet, but the default OSCccatalog should be there

I got a second domain on Friday 1/21 and as on 2 minutes ago the site was still not propogated yet. I can access thru the IP address and use cpanel, however I installed oscommerce from cpnel and when I view it thru the ip address~my site it doesn;t function properly. Pictures don't show and the text is too large for the screen. I have OSC installed on another site and works without problem. I assume this is a result of the propogation. Also, email functions @mysite.com don't work? Is there anything tht can be done to speed this up. Contacted support multiple times, no changes

I am in the process of setting up a catalog site and want to know how do I lock the site or keep it in a test mode until I am done and ready to have it live? I am using OSC
-
Thanks. I added oscommerce from the cpanel. I have reviewed the oscommerce site, but info seems to be based on downloading and installing the pkg from them, cpanel has doen that for me. I have found where the code needs to be changed, but the permissions must be set wrong, and do not allow me to make the changes. How do I change the permissions?

Very new to all of this web stuff. Just added oscommerce and am trying to update the look of the site (header, etc). I am not able to update any of the code (index.php). How do I configure it so I can make these changes? Should I be using creloaded instead? How do I install that?
