Greets again, I have aquestion about the PHP. First the prelude: I downloaded the Browser Detector that Raul recommended. I made no mods to the file and loaded it up on one of my computers that has Apache Server installed. I connected with another box through ftp and uploaded my site and then began to work on learning to use the browser detector. I got it working and figured out how to call the detector from the web page and serve different content according to whatever browser. It seems to work great. Now the question: If I load the browser detector up on my TCH hosted site and change my pages to .php extension so that I can serve dynamic pages, is there any possible way that I could screw up something on the server? In other words, is there any way the browser detector or any of my files uusing it could corrupt or damage my site or any of TCH's software or equipment? Since I'm just starting, I have very little knowledge of PHP and don't want to risk damaging anything. Thanks for help.

Raul, I downloaded the script by Gary White. It's very comprehensive and looks good to me. I have a couple questions, sorry but I'm a PHP newbie Should I install the PHP browser detector file in the same folder as the other files that use use the detector? Or does it have to be uploaded to some other location such as a CGI folder for example. I'm assuming I install it in the same folder as the viewer documents and call it with includes placed at the top of my html files. Thanks

I read a bunch of those articles at the links. I had read a few prior to posting here. What do you guys use? I'd try some of those scripts at the links but I don't want to vilate any copyrights. What I'd like to do is find somebody who'll say, here is a script you can use on your website. I don't mind paying for it, I just need to locate one that I'm sure I can use on my site. Raul, that one script says it's free but it takes forever to read the Agreement. By the time I read the agreement, I lost touch and didn't even remotely understand it. Thanks guys for your help, I appreciate it. If you run across a script I can freely use, please let me know.

When I unzip the file it has an MS DOS application extension of ".com" The name of the file is **** Dummy me. In this case .com is for .com in **** After unzipping, if you click on it, a DOS Box jumps up and trys to open it. I changed the extension to .txt and it opens with Notepad. I hope you see where I was thrown off. Thanks

Holiday Greetings, I downloaded the raw log .zip file and then I unzipped it. When I try to open the rawlog.com file, I get a message that says I don't have enough conventional memory to open the file. Is there an alternate way to get at the raw log files besides through DOS? Thanks

Hi folks, I paid for my first year with TCH through PayPal. At Paypal, I went to remove my credit card which I don't normally leave on file. I add the card and remove it as necessary to make transactions. For example, if I buy an item on ebay, I add my card and make the payment. When the transaction is complete, I then remove the card. For obvious reasons, I don't want to leave my credit numbers filed anywhere any longer than necessary. I have paid for my first year at TCH, the transaction is complete. In other words, TCH was paid the fee for one year. I went to remove my credit card number from my PayPal account the same as I always do after a transaction is complete. When I click the button to remove the credit card, I get a message telling me that my subscription will automatically be cancelled. What the heck is that about? I already paid for a year. I don't want to cancel my deal. I don't want to cancel my subscription. I will pay again next year when the time comes. I don't want to leave my card on file permanently at PayPal. I add it only to make payments and then remove it. I intend to remove my card from PayPal and I DO NOT want to cancel my deal with TCH. I have paid my first year already. What gives?

Thanks groovyfish, I did submit a ticket two days ago and Rick took care of changing my domain name for hosting. I'm aware of the two separate hosting and domain things. I'll just change the name server to my site. I'm still in the air about name servers to the other domain?

GroovyFish, I appreciate your input. I want to use JONJANDLEWISJ.COM. That is all I want to use, nothing else for this site. Period. Please read my last post. Can I do what I asked about reversing the name servers for the two domains. In my last post in this thread, I asked specific questions. That's all I want to straighten out at this point. If I can reverse the name servers then I think the issue may finally be over.. Thank You.

Thank You Don for your support. I just don't know if I am getting what I'm trying to say through with text. If I could talk to live person on the phone, I am sure I could get my point across in about two minutes. I'll try to explain in detail where I'm at. I have been to the control panel for my domains. I see that JONJANDLEWISJ.COM (which is the domain name I want to use) are set at: PARK19.SECURESERVER.NET PARK20.SECURESERVER.NET My other domain which I do not want to use, period, for my site, is at: NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM I do not want this setup. ............ Can I just reverse the the above, for example: Set JONJANDLEWISJ.COM (the domain name for my site) to: NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM And set the other domain to: PARK19.SECURESERVER.NET PARK20.SECURESERVER.NET What does the PARK19 mean? Does that mean the domain is parked? ............ I found a phone number somewhere for the Domain Name part of the hosting. I called and I talked to a person in Arizona right after I registered the newer domain which is JONJANDLEWISJ.COM. I talked with him and explained that I previously registerd a domain name but that I changed my mind and that I didn't want to use it. I told him that I wanted to use JONJANDLEWISJ.COM as my domain name for my site at TCH. The other domain name can just hang in limbo, or whatever, and I still own it. At the time, I was under the impression that he had set it up and everything was ready to rock. Now, it looks like it is reversed. I've never dealt with all these issues with domain names. When I fired up two other sites with another host, I didn't have to get into this. All they did was ask me what domain name I wanted to use and that was all there was to it. I have only done two other sites and not experienced with setting up name servers and such. I'm glad I am learning all about this now. The next time I'll know the ropes. Thanks Folks, The domain name is JONJANDLEWISJ.COM I changed the domain name right after registering under another domain name which is JBJWEBDESIGNER.COM I don't want to use this domain name, just for it to be in limbo. I want JONJANDLEWISJ.COM as the name associated with my hosting account. I added another post last night to the other thread I started here explaining the situation. That thread is titled "Changining your domain name" ........ I am beginning to become very frustrated with thisl. All I want to do is use JONJANDLEWISJ.COM as my domain name on my hosting account. I want to get by this and use my site. For the domain name I want to use, JONJANDLEWISJ.COM, specifically what nameservers do I use? Hey Thomas, I checked my name servers for the two domains. The domain I wan to use for the site is set as such: Nameserver 1:NS1.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM Nameserver 2:NS2.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM The domain I don't want to use is set at Park with a different name server. Do I need to reverse the order of the name servers. In other words. Thanks Don, I figured out how to get to the cPanel. I had to click the four block address link. I uploaded a file to public_html and was able to access it from the internet vis the four block address. When I try to access it from the internet with the regular domain name address, I get thr "TCH Coming Soon" page. I'm thinking the propogation period isn't complete yet. Hey Don, does Dreamweaver's ftp file management work with your setup at TCH? Thanks for your help.

Thanks Don, I sent a ticket. Can you tell me how to get to cpanel. I followed the instructions that came in the welcome email. I clicked on the link in the email and I got to my site index. I clicked on the "private folder" and it asked me my username and p-word for the realm. The realm shown was not the correct domain name. It was the domain name I first signed up with. I changed the domain name a couple hours after signing up for hosting. Rick changed the domain to my account after I sent a ticket. It seems like there is still some mixup with the domain names. If you guys can get this straightened out, I'd apprecite it. If there's something not kosher with my hosting account, please fix it for me or tell me what I need to do. Thanks

Hey guys, This place is great. Thanks for all the support. The reason for all the name confusion is that my son and I were butting heads over it, if you know what I mean. I'm not really well-versed on domain parking and the intricacies of using multiple domains. I've only launched two other sites with the same hosting company and they did everthing. It took about five minutes on the phone answering questions. ..... I only want to stick with one domain on my site. If I don't park or use the other domain name, does it just sit idle? Thanks again
