I just registered on this forum for the sole purpose of thanking you for this info - I am not a noob to this sort of stuff, but it has taken me hours of searching google to come up with a solution to executing a php file with cron on cpanel. So simple all you need to do is put php /home/alltherestofthepath/cron.php in the "command" box. ...so simple it is painfull Thanks...
