Hi guys,
I might be asking some silly questions, but please bear with me for a while
1) I have noticed that you make use of an older version of cPanel. Does this mean that I'll be missing functionality which I'd have had with a more recent version?
2) You do not offer Fantastico. So how do I get to install scripts? Am I allowed to install scripts such as other mailing lists than the mailman you provide as a standard? If so, how?
3) I am going to be frank about this. I am having doubts whether I should host with you or not, mainly due to some silly, emotional reasons:
On the one hand, you are the most reliable, dependable host that I've so far come accross in my little quest. You offer 24/7 support which is very important to someone like myself who is located in Europe (the Netherlands as a matter of fact). You've got a great forum over here, with lots of helpful people. Nevertheless, after reading a lot of the posts I can't avoid having the feeling that you are a tad too friendly, too cosy, too cuddly, call it whatever you like. It's just a feeling that nags me. It feels as if I'll be joining a "cult sect" or something
Another thing that bothers me is the fact that you have too much restrictions and use too much legalese. Mind you, with my decent, legit, personal/hobby geared activities I've got no reasons at all to feel restricted/bothered by those. I can, for instance, easily live without being able to modify my own DNS records, as long as you do it for me quickly when I submit a ticket. I can also live with the rejection of *.exe attachments in emails, I can rename them easily into *.ex_ prior to sending. I can live with the fact that I can host only one domain knowing that you'll park my related domains (same or similar domain names with different tld extentions) on top of if I ask you nicely whereas a lot of your competitors allow unlimited add-on domains. Etc, etc, etc...
I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here. It is not meant as a critic of the TCH, I understand and respect all your rules, AUPs and TOS Thumbs Up . But in the end it is the lump sum of all those rules/restrictions in comparison to the level of freedom offered by some of your competitors that makes me feel like as if I am letting myself into a stray jacket from which there is no escape.
Well, knowing that you really are a bunch of helpful people out there, I hope you'll be able to ease my mind. Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Cem
