  1. I have google toolbar so I enabled popups on my website and I shut down my zone alarm and moved the mt.js to my static folder and oh my gosh, oh my gosh oh my GOSH IT WORKED!!!! I am now doing a happy dance just like these guys at my computer Lisa I give you a big thanks/hug I've been trying to get this to work since 9 this morning  Also a big thanks/hug to Rick who helped me out with the first part yesterday  you guys are the greatest Thumbs Up TCH Rocks!
  2. I tried rebuilding but over in the left bottom of the screen internet explorer says error on page.
  3. Yes, Lisa that helps! However I'm still not sure when I go to www.mysite.com/blog all I see is the Index of /blog and parent directory and archives folders. Do I need to make a post first for something to show up?
  4. Thanks so much Lisa for your post However I'm still not sure I have everything configured correctly. Here is a list of Folders I have under public_html. _private _vti_bin _vti_cnf _vti_log _vti_pvt _vti_txt archives cgi-bin images mt-static scgi-bin Do I need to have one with my blog name under public_html? Remember I installed all to scgi-bin. except I moved images, docs and styles ccs to the mt-static folder I want people to see a index page and then have to go to www.mysite.com/blog to get to my blog.
  5. Okay I think I fixed my problem with the images, styles and documents not loading by moving them and putting them inside the static folder then I logged back in and waaalaah I could see the images etc. I created an archives folder under public_html so basically it's under www.mysite.com/public_html/archives but I'm still confused about how to direct people and movable type itself to the proper places. What url do I give people to get to my weblog? I have it under www.mysite.com/public_html/scgi-bin/blog but how to get to it? Also under the weblog config of movable type I have the following items please let me know if these are correct: Local Site Path: /home/username/public_html/scgi-bin/blog Site URL: http://mysite.com/ Local archive path: /home/username/public_html/scgi-bin/blog/archives Archive URL: http://mysite.com/archives/ But also as I stated in my last post I want to have an index page of HTML with a click to enter link and then guests get prompted with a user name and password dialog box. Please help.
  6. Okay this may sound like a lot of stupid questions but here goes: I installed movable type in scgi-bin and now what ip address do I tell other people to go to view my blog? or can they? I put it in the scgi-bin for more security but if other people can't view it maybe I shouldn't have put it there. Also my movable type publishing platform basically where you log in as melody nelson doesn't look like the screen shots I've seen. It looks like it's missing the graphics like the graphics aren't there like when you load your webpage and forgot to load the graphics with it or have them named wrong in the html. Any ideas why this is happening? Last but not least. if other people can view my blog in the scgi-bin how do I password protect it? I just want close friends and family to view. Like have an index page and a click to enter and then prompted for a password. that's why I asked my first question not sure how to link to my blog from the index page so others can view. So can I just put a password on the scgi-bin folder under password protect directories? okay sorry one more question do I have to create an archives folder? When I log into my movable type publishing platform and click on weblog config the bottom url mentions an archive folder but will this be created automatically? or do I need to create it and then point it in the right direction? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  7. Rick, I sent you a private message with my url. I looked at my mt.cfg and the line you spoke of currently looks like this DataSource ./db with no # in front of it. Do I need to put that back? Also this part of the mt.cfg file looks exactly like this except the word username has been substituted for my real user name? Does this look correct? # ObjectDriver DBI::mysql # Database <username_mtdatabase> # DBUser <username_mtadmin> # DBHost localhost
  8. I have followed the instructions on http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/id76.htm and under part 3 it says Leave the Datasource line alone, DataSource ./db but when I try to run the Movable Type System Loader [mt-load.cgi] I get the following error message: Bad ObjectDriver config: Your DataSource directory ('./db') does not exist. I did install movable type into the SecureCGI directory and I followed the instructions under Editor's note: To set up SecureCGI on your web site, go to cPanel and enable CGIWrapper (under CGI Scripts). Please help not sure what to do to make this error message go away. I also made a new database using the MySQL page but I couldn't tell it the path to this database if I wanted to. Please help!
