  1. OK- so i upgraded with no problem. I'm now trying to take avantage of the cool new FUTURE posting feature. I have followed the cron job instructions on LMT site, and am getting email msgs. stating that "no such file or directory exists." However, the tool direcory is in fact installed on my server in the mt directory. What am i missing? This is the command line i have typed in the cron job area of cPanel: cd /home/MYAREA/public_html/mt/tools/run-periodic-tasks TIA- Dida
  2. PLease ignore last post- I'll follow the insructions on MT site. Sorry! Dida
  3. HI- Ive got a paid MT account and downloaded the ZIP file for upgrading, i.e. *not* the entire v3.12 zip file (mistakenly mentioned exe file) Where should I put it? Again, TIA- Dida
  4. Hi all- I'm drawing a blank here. I want to upgrade my version of MT to the latest. Do I just FTP the .exe file and extract it server side? Into what folder should I place the upgrade file? TIA- Dida

  6. Again, I've got a problem that Im sure is going to be very simple to solve. But again, i keep running into walls. Issue is that although MT's docs say that defaut tempates have built-in comment functionality, everytime I create a new test blog, add an entry, publish, rebuld, view site, and then try to add a comment to entry from site, i get a 404 error (original entry not being found). I have set up prefs. to allow comments. The archive path is mt/archives. The index file if located in mt What am I missing? TIA- Dida Rock Sign
  7. I figured it out, and it was simple, of course. I had to uncomment the Static WebPath line and change it to this: StaticWebPath ./mt-static All MT functions are fine now.
  8. Hello wise persons of the TCH forums. OK, I did a second MT install and it took considerably less time than the first one, thanks to Rick and cobbled together notes from the various installion docs all over the internet. (NOTE: per Rick's suggestion, uploading the zip file directly to TCH and extracting via File Manager saves a lot of time. Permissions were automatically set for the CGI files to 755! And without Shell access, these timesavers count.) However, I'm discovering there are idiosyncracies to MT that not are well documented For instance, when i first logged into MT, it looked very plain. Fixed that problem by copying the styles.css file to the same directory in which my cgi filies were. So now I'm messing with MT and have logs i don't want. And I can't delete them! On the first page (MAINTAIN YOUR EXISTING WEBLOGS), the only active option to the right of each blog is CREATE ENTRY. For the life of me I can't delete my "mistake" blogs! Are there other files, including doc files, that should be in the same folder as the mt.cgi file in order for all options to be active and for help (the little quesion mark icon) to work?
  9. Hi Tyson K- Basically, what happend is that i created a DB name and didn't type it in correctly to the config file. When you add a DB using MySQL, check what MySQL says is the name and then add that in EXACTLY to the config file (best to copy and paste). Do the same for the DB username. Addtionally, i found out on my second MT install that MySQL has character limits on names. No, don't know the limit off the top of my head. Would have to go back over my notes. In any case, Rick saved me on that issue. I'm attempting to keep consice notes so that I can write them up for TCH users. Now I have ANOTHER MT problem! Oy vey! Searching the forums begins again . . . Dida
  10. I just uncommented the lines referred to. However, my understanding was that DataSource ./dbname I changed that line back to read DataSource ./db Still doesn't work. Have started from scratch at least 5x now . . .
  11. Can I post a screen shot of the MySQL accnt. maintenance page without being compromised? Dida
  12. Yes- that is an easy to miss step-tiny window in UI. User has been added
  13. Yes, have created the db and user in MySQL sexn of the cPanel. I'm stymied!
  14. First off, I want to say that i couldn't have gotten this far with my first MT installation attempt without these user forums. After DAYS of trying, i feel closer, but still, when i ran mt-load.cgi, got this msg: Bad ObjectDriver config: Connection error: Access denied for user: 'XXXXX_mtdbadmin@localhost' (Using password: YES) I suspect i need to change something in my mt-db-pass.cgi file. I did enter the password of my db user. Please help me out of this massive confusion! Cheers- Dida TCH-Bruce: edited out your user name for security reasons
