ok got the backup restored.... so the 3rd time isn't a charm... Tommy--- have you dealt with the bbtonuke stuff before?

Guess it is time for some divine intervention.......HELPPPPPPP!!!! I copied all the files over to the correct folders.... ran the upgrade thing from the web browser.........nothing..nothing ...nothing

Darn it anyway I did the upgrade from 14-15 and it still says 2.0.14.....

ARGH! ok 6 hours later... finally got the old files restored from the back up I made this am.. Finally got the 7.7 patched files installed and working correctly..........Now I am stuck the board version still says 2.0.14 (bangs head on the wall) Anyway to verify that is actually what is there from the server side????

Argh....ok the patch file didn't work right... now the boards don't exist.. hmm all permissions are at 444... dang I meant to write down what had what for permissions.... think I might be on to something with the nuke patch for 7.7 ... going to have my files restored from my back up and start over again.... I really need to learn how to restore a certian folder from an entire site back up..

Right... I did make the Install folder because it didn't exist... just want to make sure the only file I need to put in it is the "update_to_latest.php"..

cripes... I remember seeing that somewhere duh on my part.. hmmm do all the files in the Install folder need to be moved as well or just the one file? What do you think?

LOL I hear that... ya I have been scouring the nuke sites.. and have seen so many things, think that is how I got things messed up...

np.. ok just wanted to make sure because a few of the new folders will overwrite some current folders..... uploading away Oooooo ok... for future reference... look in the new folders and just move the files inside to the current matching folders on the directory.. Aaron, we should take all this and condense for a new tutorial on upgrading nuke stuff LOL...

ok.. have the files, unzipped the main file, the following folders are--cache, contrib, docs, install.. and the other zips. Unzipped the 2.0.14-2.0.17 zip and the following folders are --admin,db,includes,language,templates, and some other files.. The only "update_to_latest.php" that I see is in the Install folder in the first level unzip. So I need to put the 2nd lvl unzipped files into my Boards2 directory Correct? and then put the "update_to_latest.php" in the Boards2 directory as well and run it thru a web browser . Correct? (Just don't need to mess it up again, I too have learn how not to upgrade boards LOL)

thanks for the small ray of hope .. I do have a few mods for the nuke installed.. I remember seeing something about going back to subsilver before upgrading... does this apply to the php-nuke stuff as well? my boards are at czpkc.com/Boards2/index.php if you want to take a look..

Edit: I don't know that I am putting this in the right forum or not......... My brain hurts from trying to get my boards upgraded for the past 8 days... I really scrambled things on my first attempt.. managed to get restored from my back up...After trying to do a patch only upgrade(didn't work- even following the directions from phpbb.org), tried to do a patch thru my nuke 7.5 with instructions again didn't work.. then tried to just upgrade to 7.7... (you can imagine lots of screaming here). Put in a help ticket to the friendly handy dandy tech support... and managed to get the files restored from my back up... Ok so now.. have upgraded to nuke 7.7 with no problems however I discovered that the boards with that are 2.0.14 (starting to scream again)... I don't know what to try now to get to 2.0.17.. If I try the patch again.. (file from phpbb.org) the instructions say.. "7.iii. Patch file The patch file is probably the best solution for those with many Mods or other changes who do not want to re-add them back to all the changed files. To use this you will need command line access to a standard UNIX type patch application. A number of patch files are provided to allow you to upgrade from previous stable releases. Select the correct patch, e.g. if your current version is 2.0.16 you need the phpBB-2.0.16_to_2.0.17.patch. Place the correct patch in the parent directory containing the phpBB 2 core files (i.e. index.php, viewforum.php, etc.). With this done you should run the following command: patch -cl -d [phpBB DIRECTORY] -p1 < [PATCH NAME] (where PHPBB DIRECTORY is the directory name your phpBB Installation resides in, for example phpBB2, and where PATCH NAME is the relevant filename of the selected patch file). This should complete quickly, hopefully without any HUNK FAILED comments." So.. #1.. Can "I" do this myself? the standard UNIX type patch application part is what I am questioning.... Did I get the right patch files from phpbb.org? #2. If I can do this.. where am I supposed to do the "run" command at? in a web browser with my site name and the file location? yep yep *dances* got it to work.......wwwwwhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeee 4 weeks of frustration will finally come to an end I do hope. I was able to use my site backup from the other cpanel uploaded it to the TCH server and then moved the folder I wanted to the public_html . Now I can just get the stuff I want off the old back up and then get rid of the old back up. Thank you so much for the help at my dark hour of almost a nervous breakdown when I thought of all the folders I was going to have to redo....(almost 1000 give or take a few)..

ok thanks, my hubbie asked my why I didn't just go thru the phpmyadmin and get the database stucture.......I was like duh....... so going to try that..........and if that doesn't work will try the help ticket thingie. Thanks for the ideas I guess trying to work on this til 3 am has really frazzled my brain.. Hopefully I can change the "name and users" for the database.......

is it possible to move a mysql database intact? or am I going to have to reinstall and reset up everything? Or if I have to reset things up is it possible to move the "tables" ? I have a back up of the database from my previous server can I use the back up? I am not looking forward to redoing my almost 1000 tables
