  1. I have already done the same. I created it as an addon for postnuke as I'm one of the core programmers for it. I also recently added it as a mod for phpbb. It does a little more than hotlinking though as it covers spam bots and even sets up a honey pot for them to feed them bogus emails and endless pages. This also keeps them outside of your real site. It also covers web downloaders and even a few iis virii that we apache users dont need eating up our bandwidth.
  2. um no there is a good hack but the one from list apart is better than nothing. There is a better one by yougpup.
  3. I agree with the last poster as if it is tunred on hen they wont be able to get any images from you at all. It blocks all requests for images unless it comes for your local server. This is good as it still allows others to view our pages correctly when they visit your site.
  4. Also png is a much better format and that has much more detail for a simmialr file size. Not to mention alpha transparancy. If you need it there is a ie hack to get it working properly with transparent png's.
  5. Also to note if your motherboard is going out you will be able to look at it. In most cases you will be able to see the capacitors bulging. This is a sure sign of your motherboard going bad. If it is an abit board you can almost count on it. I sold a bunch of abits during that period and they had this issue allot. The other thing it could be is your power supply.
  6. what might that be?
  7. well for servers in general or your setup? It would apear in your setup that this is true but I build email servers and it is very easy to do filtering with programs like maildrop that allow custom rules and folder filtering.
  8. well the answer to that is quite obvious is it not. Since shell scripts are not allowed and the only reason whatsoever is to use .forward to pipe emails to another application or shell script. It would be rather meaningless or worthless to even have the option to have a .forward file that cant really be used for anything at all anyway. there are other ways to do it but none that are as usefull.
  9. thanks I just noticed. Also do you know if I can add extra rules? I like to keep them in sepperate files to better catagorize them. For instance a file for I AM A SPAMMER another for drugs and so forth.
  10. If I setup spamassassin on my account do i have access to the cf files so I can add my own rules if I want? Well that is without having to use the webadmin from cpanel. The reason i ask is that I have a much more extensive black list and a few more rules that what can be done with cpanel.
  11. well let me restate that. I build my own email servers with spamassassin and clamav. I pipe it all through maildrop for filtering and then I use imap or pop to access it all. I use maildir instead of mailbox and for webmail i use squirellmail. It all works extreemly well. I dont drop any email but it's all nicely filtered into spam and virus folders. Then I just login through webmail or imap and look st the bad stuff and either delete it if need be or use it to train the bayes db. the only thing really left is the normal inbox which is what I get if I download using pop. This is nice as it allows me to make rpm's and ship completely functional setups with preprimed bays db for customers.
  12. Does the servers config support .forward.? I notice that I more or less have a home folder of sorts. Obviously it is not a full shell account and all but I have a script I would like to run that allows me to tie my mailing lists and my forum together. For this to work optimally it requires me to run a small shell script to pipe the emails into the forum. Now I assume since most are set up in a chroot environment that this should be no problem. The only issue left would be weather or not .forward works so I can pipe the emails to a shell script. I do have other methods to get this to work but this is the best way to achieve this. Thank you.
  13. I wish my email was so easy on me. I get about 1000 a day on the average. with a low of maybe 500 and a high of about 1500.
  14. Well currently I get about 1000 - 2000 email a day with roughly half of them being spam on any given day. I also build email servers for the city and a few other buiness's here in my local town. I currently have mine setup with spam and virus filtering. This then is filtered using maildrop into maildir type mail folders. I perfer maildir for the extra security and also the ease of using quotas. At any rate I use both imap and maildir. With Imap I can check the server and see what spam and virii have been collected. When I know that no spam is in my main inbox then I download through pop so the email can be searched easily and used for reference later. I currently have about 500,000 emails or so and they take up about 5 gig's of space. These I can access and search easily through kmail my email program.
