I am looking for a web design program to assist me in designing my site. To date I have used a text editor and First Page. For those of you who use CuteSite Builder, what do you think of it? How does it compare with First Page (if you know)? What is difference between CuteSite Builder and CuteHTML Pro? Any other suggestions for a program? Not sure that this is the right forum page for this question, but here goes....I have been trying to follow a discussion regarding making Gallery2 secure, and have come accross a concept that I am not sure I fully understand. Some files (for example ".htaccess" and "congig.php") are user "owned" (I take this to mean the domain owner, me in the case of my domain hosted on TotalChoce) and others are "owned" by "Nobody" (I take this to mean TotalChoice or the webserver). Are my assumptions above correct? If so, how can you tell who "owns" what files? When files are created, how is it determined who owns what files? I suppose this might be a fairly complicated question, and I do not mean to take up anyone's time educating me - if there is some resouce you could direct me to that would be great! Thanks! Russ

I have been reading up on security for Gallery2 (Gallery2 Security Discussion). It suggests that there is a security issue if open_basedir has no value. I note that the for TotalChoice, the open_basedir has a "Local Value," but no "Master Value." Which are they referring to in the following snippet? Just looked at the page in Firefox, and the text on the left runs out of the gray area. In IE6 (the browser I a\had been using all weekend) the gray area runs to the bottom of the screen and the bottom red border is not seen. Strange.

Hi - I am looking into redoing my homepage, and have been reading up on some html, php and CSS. I have been trying to work thru some code and can't seem to figure out what I am missing. On the page linked below, I am able to offset the content portion of the page from the viewer on the sides and at the top, but my bottom wont offset. I have pasted the stylesheet below (in red). Hi - I apologize in advance if this is a basic question. For various reasons it has been a long time since I checked in on my Guest Book. I did so today, and it appears to have been hijacked! A mictrsoft dialogue box pops up saying something about defacement and lists an email address I have never heard of. Then the page is redirected to some page dealing with defacements and computer crimes! Can someone explain to me what has happened? How to fix and how to prevent a reoccurance? Lisa - Thanks so much that works. Thanks to Bruce and Don too! TCH must have changed the location (path) of ImageMagick since I first installed Gallery. The other path had worked fine for a while...I had not uploaded anything in a while, and when I tried to start again I ran into this problem. Now, with the new path you gave me, all seems to wirk fine! Thanks again. Russ

Bruce and/or Don- Cannot leave path blank (if you do you get an error message during configuration). I think I discovered what might be the problem. Checkout this link: ImageMagick 6.1.0+ incompatible with Gallery 1.x in some circumstances Is the version of ImageMagick on the server 6.1.0+? Is so, is there a way for me to run a prior version? If Not, is NetPBM on the server? That can be used with gallery istead of ImageMagick. Thanks for your help.

Bruce - When I follow that tutorial, I need a path on our server for ImageMagick. Under the configuration, it lists the path for ImageMagick as "/usr/bin/". When I run a debug for gallery it says the path "/usr/bin/" cannot be found. Is there an updated path? Thanks. Russ

When I point my browser to http://www.hintzefamily.com/gallery/setup/index.php (part of my site), I get the following message: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /gallery/setup/index.php on this server. Thanks for your help. Some follow up questions if you don't mind. If I create a sub folder (say, images) under my ****/public.html, and post pictures there (with a url of ****/images/img.jpg), I can upload pictures to that folder. Am I correct that people will only be able to view that image and if they cut and paste the url they will be able to view my site, but they cannot do anything other than view the site correct? On a related question, if I create a folder on the same level as public.html, will I be able to upload pictures and embed them on the forum? I appreciate your help.

Please excuse me if this is not posted on the correct thread, but here is my question. I would like to embed links to some of my photographs on a photo forum that I am a member of. Once embedded, the url can be accesses by right clicking on the image on the forum and selecting properties. I would prefer if my domain address was not revealed. In other words, I do not want strangers being able to cut and paste the url and visit my site. Is there a way to upload image onto my site, but not have the url be displayed?

I have a domain hosted by totalchoice. it is a noncomercial site. if i want another domain name, also personal, do i need to subcribe to two hosting plans or can the two domain names somehow share one plan? thanks

Thanks again Bruce. I logged onto cPanel and saw a message that I had no contact email, it also read "Please update your contact information here." Where "here" was a link to a page that allowed one to change the email address where TotalChoice contacts you. I set this to my earthlink email (up until then, the earthlink address is where I rec'd all emails from Totalchoice). I then browsed thru cPanl and was experimeting with mail options - I created an address - that was what lead to my first post. I also created a mail list. Coincidentially, I notice the "webmail" link on the cPanel and clicked on it. To my suprise there were 2 years worth emails (over 500) to username@domain.com. I never even knew that address existed. All were spam, but the last one was a confirmation of the mail group that I mentioned above. I went back and reset (again) my contact email to the earthlink, created another test mail group and rec'd the confirmation at username@domain.com. I have tried this several times. I don't intend to use username@domain.com as an email. How do I get TotalChoice to use the earthlink address to contact me. Thanks.

Bruce - Thanks for your help. I set my contact e-mail to the earthlink address. In my cPanel my contact e-mail is the earthlink. In the "E-Mail" section of the cPanel screen, under "Default Address" is lists my username as the default address to which unrouted mail is sent. As a test I created a mail group. Total choice confirmed creation at the following address "username@domain.com", not at the earthlink address. Shouldn't it have used the earthlink? If I leave the default account blank, I receive no confirmation from Total Choice. I'd rather not set the default to the earthlink since I do not want all undirected mail going to the earthlink. Am I making sense?

How do I configure my account so that I can designate where things from totalchoice atre e-mailed. For example, if I create a mail list, total choice mails confirmation to my email at mu domaiun name...but i use an earthlink e-mail. Can I have it sent to the earthlink address. I changed the e-mail for my contact e-mail, but that doesn't seem to change anything. Thanks.

Maybe there is another forum that this question should be addressed to, if so, sorry. Here's my question - I have a domain name hosted by TotalChoice. If I establish an e-mail address, how do I configure outlook to recieve and send from that account?
