Hmm, this was the say it was setup on my last host, but I must be doing something wrong here. If I may explain the way it's setup, maybe I can figure out if it's an error in my coding or a server setting...? the page I want to include is at: kastiron.com/copyright.txt I installed a forum at: kastiron.com/forum The page that I've placed the Include on is at: kastiron.com/forum/templates/subSilver/overall_footer.tpl Here is the include tag: <?php include("../copyright.txt"); ?> because the page is called from 1 directory up at kastiron.com/forum But nothing shows up... no errors, just nothing there. I've also tried <?php include("../../../../copyright.txt"); ?> but that's not working either. Is this making any sense... sorry to be a bother about this, I'm just not sure what's wrong.

Hi, With my last host, I used SSI's on my site. The pages that end in .shtml work great. But I also changed the header and footer of my forum. And I wanted to include the same header and footer as in my other pages. since the forum is php, and up a directory, I tried this: <?php require("../copyright.txt"); ?> But my headers and footers aren't showing up. So I tried the .shtml way: <!--#include virtual="../copyright.txt"--> That didn't work either. So I tried lengthing the ../ to 2, 3, 4, and 5 times but that didn't do it either. Any suggestions?
  3. Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. Would installing stuff be possible for semi-dedicated or reseller accounts too? For example, Image Magic for a gallery script I'd like. I think I've seen before that this software is already installed, but what if it wasn't? How would installing something work, if I don't have root access on a reseller or semi-dedicated account? BTW, i'm thinking for starters the best reseller account will be ok. BUT would it be difficult or cause many problems if I upgraded to the semi-dedicated account in a few months? And do you have any opinions about PLesk vs Cpanel? Does stuff like MySQL, PHP, Perl come with those cpanel/plesk, or are you guys still installing all that stuff on your own first, so that all somebody like me has to do is click a button in cpanel? THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! you have no idea how good it feels to be in the midst of what I think is a reliable company. I feel my stress level dropping many notches already!! =) as long as you're not like one of those companies that gives great support the first couple months, and then it all but disappears later... I hope you appreciate someone looking to host with you for the LONG RUN!!
  4. wow, i'm an idiot. sorry about that, i got confused in all the comparisons... Again though, I just don't understand why someone would want an unmanaged server? Would it be to do more than just web hosting, like gaming servers, or experimenting, or just hosting email or dns or something? Also, on a Managed server, does that mean I can't install anything new on there? It seems like it already comes with a lot of great scripts. I'm just trying to forsee any potential problems for hosting sites that will require shopping carts, image galleries, formmailers, forums, etc. Thanks again for all your help, I think it's only a matter of days before I host with TCH! =)
  5. If you guys take care of everything on a Managed Server, why would anyone want to go with an Unmanaged server, which costs more? I'm being serious, I'm a mid-level webmaster, and am trying to make the leap to becoming a reseller and feel pretty clueless about root access server setup.
  6. What's the difference between your managed and unmanaged dedicated or semi-dedicated servers? Also, it seems to me like a semi-dedicated fully managed server is a step up from a top reseller account. You get less people on the server, and more space and bandwidth. Is that the primary difference? Also, I'm not sure that I'd ever need to install other software, but the cpanel you provide seems to have tons of software included? Does this all come pre-installed on the managed and un-managed servers? I'm assuming unmanaged is for those who want root access to tweak or install stuff on their own? THanks for your help... recently got burned by Dot5Hosting (one of the worst hosts in the world in my humble opinion.) So bare with my skittishness.
  7. Do you allow Live Webcasting? In your reseller accounts do you host on Windows 2003? So I can do Live Webcasting and streaming media? Do you have NEtPMB or IMage Magic installed for a Gallery? I'll post more as i think of them.
