Yup I've even dumped the database and user and started from scratch a couple of times. Thanks for the suggestion, though. The only permissions I've changed are on the two config files as per the install instructions.

Still no joy I've followed the instructions at: http://wiki.oscommerce.com/docsInstallNew But I'm still getting the same failure message. It seems like the passwoord that I entered when I created the database isn't working.

Tried that, but I'm getting: "Access denied for user: 'accountname_username@localhost' to database 'accountname_databasename' Please click on the Back button below to review your database server settings." I've tried various combos of the above informaton, and I wrote down the db password, so I'm not sure what gives... although I'm sure it's a silly newbie thing. For clarity's sake, I'm on step two of the install, and the caption of the field reads: "Database server: ______ Hostame or IP-address of the database server The database server can be in the form of a hostname, such as db1.myserver.com, or as an IP-address, such as 192.168.0.1"

Hi I'm trying to install oscommerce, and it's asking for the address of my database server. I've uploaded the sample database from oscommerce's installation using the web interface in cpanel, but I don't know where it lives on the server... Any help would really be appreciated, Thanks!
