  1. Well I really just used what was in my Cpanel but if there's a better alternative i'll check it out. I'll go ahead and submit a ticket though.
  2. I'm having a problem with my Mailman mail list. I run a play-by-email roleplaying game that I just started just over the weekend. It worked fine at first - just like it's supposed to. Send an email, email gets delivered to the list's members. And since then it's just stopped working. It recieves the emails fine and archives them fine - it just isn't delivering them. I haven't altered anything since it was working correctly and can find nothing in the settings to explain why it isn't working now. I'm the only person with admin access to the list so it couldn't have been someone else messing things up so I'm at a loss. I know today is a big holiday in the US (Happy 4th guys) but I figured maybe someone was watching. Specifically, this is the first email the list recieved and did not deliver - it's the closest I can come to to when it stopped working. (Sun Jul 2 08:45:28 EDT 2006 ) - there are an additional 6 emails after it that have not been delivered either. Help?
  3. Still nothing. I don't get it. I've tried a dozen different variations. The only thing I can think of is it might not be working because of the fourth variable they ask you to change. They suggest you leave that the same unless your server's different. I figure TCH isn't set up this way but I wasn't bothering with it just yet since I could just ask on these boards how to link to the mailprog. But I'm wondering if Dada not being able to access this yet might also be mucking with it. Maybe TCH-Mike could figure it out, but so far I'm not having much luck.
  4. These are the online instructions I followed. DADA HOMPAGE INSTRUCTIONS
  5. Those are the installation instructions. I created a directory called 'dada_files' and when I point the $FILE variable to it, I get an Error 500. When I point it to something that has actual files in it, I get a 400. That leads me to believe they did not want me to make an empty directory named dada_files so I'm supposed to point it somewhere specific. The problem is, they don't tell me specifically where they want me to point to. There's an external directory with several folders in it, and then there's a 'DADA' directory. I've tried linking straight to the external and to the interior DADA directory and neither works. I just get 404.
  6. Still no dice. *sigh* This is the string I'm using now $FILES = '/usr/home/pttfulij/public_html/adam/DADA'; With this string I still hit an Error 404 when I go to the mail.cgi url as the instructions tell me to. I was getting an Error 500 before. I figure a 404 is better since it's actively working, just not finding what it wants.
  7. No dice. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what yet. I tried the string you provided, and I tried removing the 'dada-files' section, wondering if I had been stupid by creating an empty directory named that when what it was asking for was to be directed to wherever I uploaded the files to. Still no dice however.
  8. Hmm, okay. Downloaded and uploaded Dada Mail and went through their installation instructions but it still isn't working. Hmm.. I'm trying to put Dada in its own subdomain. How should I handle the $FILES variable? "$FILES = '/usr/home/justin/dada_files';" - the example they use "$FILES = '/public_html/adam/dada/dada_files';" - what I've got What am I doing wrong? I had the wrong path to the mail.cgi file before and it said the server wasn't configured or something. Fixed that and I started getting a 404 type message - I assumed that to mean the CGI file was working properly, it just couldn't get the files it needed. So I'm guessing my problem is the files variable. Any ideas here, Mike?
  9. I had a feeling that Sympa was a little heavy, but I wasn't certain. I understand the issues here. I tried Mailman on here and just found it confusing and the archiving system left MUCH to be desired. Anyone out there have any other ideas for mailing list setups that provide the ability for multiple lists and has a good and accessible archiving system?
  10. I'm creating an online RPGing organization, one that's going to require several mailing lists that are easy to configure and maintain easily accessible archives for reference. I did a lot of searching quite some time ago and finally came back around to the only one I had any in-depth knowledge of: which is Sympa. I've never set up a system like this before, so I'm wondering if it can be set up here at TCH and if there are any kind souls here who could give me a hand with it. This end of web work is far from my forte. Thanks in advance for any help.

Rare we are indeed. I guess I've never understood everyone's hatred for MS which seems primarily based in their powerhouse stature. It's not like you hear a lot of people cussing about General Motors or AT&T

I had not replied to the ticket. I guess I must've overlooked something because I don't recall reading that I was supposed to. I submitted the ticket, like the TECH said, and got a response very quickly and did as they asked, so they unlocked my account. no harm, no foul there. It was my fault. My post was really about the conversation with the live support tech. With the long silences between responses where the utility says "TECH is typing..." I was repeatedly surprised by four or five word responses. I thought he was typing out a manual for me or something.

Addendum: I still had the window and just noticed this. This must've happened sometime after the 20-minute mark when I opened this window to write this post. TECH : any other issue? TECH : your domain name? Your party has left this session.

I couldn't figure out where else to put this. I have a problem with my main TCH account. It was suspended over some payment issue. Fine, I solved it the way I was told through the payment site. That was well over a week ago but still my account remains suspended. So I tried online help and basically got told to submit a ticket. What good is the instant online help if you have to submit a ticket and drum your fingers while you wait for a response? This tiny and unhelpful conversation took nearly *15* minutes and the tech left the conversation without informing me in any way that he/she was doing so even though I had a second question that wasn't addressed. I've changed the tech's name because I don't want to get anyone in trouble. ** You are now speaking with TECH, Support Department. ** Kurt : Hello TECH TECH : hello Kurt : I have a problem. My account is suspended. I was told by billing that I needed to solve it on the Pay service, which I did. But it's been like a week now and it still shows as suspended. Kurt : hello? TECH : yes TECH : Please open a ticket Kurt : Okay, I'll try to do that. I also have another problem with my second account. One of my subdomains refuses to work. TECH : select department as billing Kurt : And the second account? Kurt : hello? It almost reads like one of those ICQ pranks. *sigh* Yuck!
