Well, the VIN holds a great description of a vehicle and has a check digit (#9) that uses an algorithm to verify the string of numbers and letters. My program tests that the check digit is valid and gives the user the country of origin, manufacturer and the model year. My wife works in the auto financing business and she wanted a way to test the check digit.

I have written a Visual Basic program that decodes VINs (vehicle identification numbers) and I think there could be a market for it but I really don't know how to start. Has anyone here produced shareware and sold it? I could use some extra cash.

I had a problem sending email using Outlook and finally found a solution. (I had previously added a post on this but can't find it now) My ISP finally fixed it for me by telling me that I had to enter their Outgoing mail server (stmp.joimail.com), even though I wasn't using their email services, in order to send mail. They said it was common practice now because of all the Spam problems. I thought this could possibly help someone else. Bill

I tried the bill+nashvilleinventory.com with same results and wasn't able to send an email.

By the way, I was able to setup my Hotmail account in Outlook without a problem.

Changed to 26 from 25 with same result. Thanks for the suggestion, Bill

Thanks for the info. I tried the suggestions but still no email sent. Maybe I'll just get a new computer.

I have setup Outlook to access my email but it can't send the test email, or any email. When I "Test Account Settings", it passes all of the tests but the test email. It gives a message that says that the server was found but there was no response from server and suggests that I verify the port and SSL information is correct although I havn't checked the secure server boxes. What user name and password does Outlook want? Does it want the email or the cpanel ones? Thanks for the help. Bill
