  1. Thank you Rick! I tried it again and it works like a charm!
  2. Thank you David, Rick and Don. I have now been able to get 3.15 to work. No luck on 3.2 yet.
  3. The part of uploading tar.gz and zip files in binary mode I remembered. I also chose binary mode for uploading the mt-static directory and ascii on everything else. I thought there might be a program or something to check whether the changes I made (path to cgi, mysql, and mt-static) had some type of error. I've looked and relooked, and retried and still am doing something wrong. The only page I can get to is the index page. I just saw something, and now I'm wondering - what permission should the public_html directory have? I can't remember looking before, but I just saw that it's 750.
  4. I'm at my wits end. I tried extracting the file on my desktop, made changes to config script, uploaded and put all, except mt-static, in cgi-bin folder, changing permissions to 755, and still get the same problem on 3.2 - same error messages. then i decided to take all that off and put 3.15 back on, and now I can't get that to run either, when I was able to get it to run before, and I know I've set it up the same way! Does tch have any programs to check the scripts?
  5. File does not exist: /home/godivad/public_html/500.shtml Premature end of script headers: /home/godivad/public_html/s11/mt.cgi Here's what it says.
  6. Anyone help! I purchased 3.2. I had 3.15 and because I just dinked around with it, removed it all before I installed 3.2. First I transferred the tar.gz via ftp to my public_html folder, then I extracted it, edited the mt-config.cgi. Next I tried running mt-check.cgi, get 500 error. Checked permissions, all cgis are 755 (I tried mt-config in both 755 and 644 modes, neither made a difference). When I had 3.15, I set it up this exact way and had no problems. Any suggestions?? Thanks
  7. Thanks Tommy.
  8. I want to design my own theme. Does PHPNuke use ccs?
  9. Thanks David and Tim. Simple little things make a huge difference. I was downloading the tar.gz file and uploading it in ascii mode. Couldn't figure out why only certain files decompressed, and none of them were the cgi files. So I tried the zip file (again uploaded in ascii mode), and that worked better. I changed the permissions on mt-load as Tim pointed out, was able to get mt-check.cgi to work, but it said I needed html:templates. didn't seem hard on the instructions, but the html:templates tar.gz file wouldn't open, kept getting error message, tried both winzip and pkzip. Got frustrated with that. Saw David's comment about uploading the tar.gz in binary mode, and viola. Works like a charm. Thanks again.
  10. Thanks David. Sorry for the "tech" slip. I checked the permissions for the cgi scripts, they are all 755. I am getting the 500 error on every page tried - mt.cgi, mt-check.cgi, mt-load.cgi. Here's the error in the log: File does not exist: /home/xxxx/public_html/500.shtml Premature end of script headers: /home/xxxx/public_html/cgi-bin/hod/mt-check.cgi It's the same errors for mt-load and mt. URL www.godivadiva.com/cgi-bin/hod Thanks for any help you can provide!
  11. could i get a tch tech take a look at my mt set up? i followed the installation directions i thought correctly, but apparently not.
  12. Why would I get this error? Everything seems to work fine till I get to login screen. I'm trying to install Bandley 3 comment poll script. Invalid Referer. Re-enter script or change referer from login screen. Thanks
  13. Charles, I got it working. I read on the MT site that Norton security might have something to do with blocking popup rebuilds or something like that, so I disabled it, rebuilt it and voila - it worked. geez, what a pain. Thanks for all your help and patience. Thumbs Up
  14. tried that, same result. Here's another question. I ftp'd the gz.tar file to my public_html folder as per the instructions. the gz.tar file was 814kb, and ftp shows it as the same size. But in the file mgr, it shows 795kb. and when I extract the files, it does not have all the files. I unzipped the files then uploaded them. still don't know why the rebuild doesn't work. i downloaded another browser and made sure it did not have popups blocked. still rebuild hangs. arg Mad!!!
  15. No errors. A window pops open, I select rebuild everything. Then it says rebuilding Individual pages 1-1... and then nothing else happens. I checked the permissions on path and patharc - both set at 777. everything else seems to work fine. I can make entries and edit them. Just the rebuild is the hangup.
