  1. Okay...far-fetched, but hang with me. At home I have a dial-up connection (country living has it's drawbacks) At work I have broadband. Work blocks stuff from download.com and other shareware sites. What I want to do is, from home, direct 'downloads' to an ftp site I control. Then I can download from ftp on broadband work connection. Am I making sense? Thanks.
  2. I'm not suse if this is the correct forum, but perhaps someone here can eith help or point me in the right direction. I've already looked for help on the MT forums, but thought I'd check here in case this is an issue with MT installed on TCH servers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I recently upgraded from MT2.61 to MT3.12. All went well. Now I'm trying to convert from BDB to mysql, and when I run the mt-db2sql.cgi I get the following error: >Loading database schema... Loading data... MT::Author 1 MT::Blog 1 10 11 12 7 8 MT::Category 10 14 16 17 18 19 21 22 23 24 25 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 An error occurred while loading data: That's it. Everything just stops. Has anyone else had this problem and found any resolutions? Thanks.
  3. I'm considering picking up a couple more domain names. I already have 2 domains registered and hosted by TCH on separate accounts. Since I'm obviously treading into reseller catagory...I have a question about billing. Since I've already paid for a full year for each existing hosting account...do I get any credit for that when signing up for the reseller account and rolling the existing accounts into it? Thanks.

  5. This did not work. What are the basic requirements to get SSI to work? ( I mean, besides correct code) Is there somethign I need to add to the htaccess file? Thanks again.
  6. I'm searching for what is necessary to add to my htaccess file (if anything) to get a simple SSI tag to work on my site. TCHMike responded to a similar question here...but didn't include any info on the htaccess. I put this on my site and am getting "an error occurred while processing this directive" error. I'm assuming something has to be done to the htaccess, but can't be sure. I am essentially trying to do the same sort of thing as described on this site and just copied and pasted the relavent parts as described down at the end of the article. Any help would be appreciated. I'm new to SSI and not quite sure how to make it work, but am encouraged by it's possibilites and I just need a few pointers to make things click. THanks.
  7. Never mind...I see that if I have two separate web sites with 2 separate domain names...I need to have two separate hosting accounts.
  8. I currently have my domain registered outside TCH, with TCH as my host. I would like to register a second domain with TCH. Is it possible to administer the 2nd domain from the original hosting account? If not, do I treat both domain/hosting pairs completely separate? I don't have to keep everything separate, but would like to set it up as easily as possible. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

  10. For future reference...I was unable to find a direct solution to the problem I was having with Frontpage. I did, however, find an acceptable workaround. Rather than publishing into the root of the public_html folder, I'm publishing into a sub-folder (called /fp/ in this case). Frontpage isn't looking at any files outside the sub folder...so all is well. The only other thing I had to do was add a line of code to my .htaccess file to find the index.html in the sub folder and I was rolling. A minor victory over the arrogance of Frontpage. One of these days I'll look into a different authoring tool.

  12. Okay, this may have been covered... I'm using Frontpage for my website (I'm beginning to understand why some follow FP with ##$!&) and movabletype for my blogs. THe problem is this... Currently frontpage publishes to the root of the oublic_html directory, and MT is partially in the cgi-bin folder, partially in the mt-static folder, and partially in a weblog folder. When I publish my site and tell Frontpage to only update changed files/folders, it runs through ALL the MT stuff (outside the cgi-bin) folder and asks if I want to remove it. No one seems to know how to tell Frontpage to stop that behavior...that it can't be in charge of everything. Currently my web site is small and I can get around the problem if by telling Frontpage to republish the entire site. But since I'm still on dial-up, that option will get out of hand rather quickly. So what I'm doing now is publishing frontpage in a subdirectory of the public_html folder. That seems to work...it doesn't ask me any questions about files outiside the new folder. So my question (too late to make a long story short) is how do I alter the .htaccess file to point to the index.htm file in the /fp' folder? Most of my attempts so far either leave me with a index of the public_access folder when I tr to access the website, or an error. I know it is something simple...but I also know that I'm currently trying things I've tried before...which is a sure sign of growing frustration. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  13. I'm using FP 2000 and have recently finished configuring MovableType to run my web log. The problem I am having is that FrontPage wants to delete any files in the public_html directory that "it" didn't put there. I'm not looking forward to answering "no" to the delete option for every file. I figure there has got to be a way around this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Charles's instruction: "6. leave the Datasource line alone, DataSource ./db" Was all I needed to get the installation finished. Now I have one more newbie question...It may seem silly but I can't figure it out... Where do I actually link to to get the weblog to show up on a page on my site? What is the file name? What is the typical path? Thanks so much for providing what is essentially 3rd party support.
