I've just come back to the TCH forums and it looks like dedicated servers are getting sold again. That can only be good news.. I have a few domains hosted here (small stuff), but knowing the great TCH services I was thinking about moving a bigger site which is currently hosted with another provider in France (OVH).
I'm trying to compare the two service plans but they look to have different parameters. For example, while I know that with OVH the bandwidth is at somewhere around 60 mbps (average download speed is 1-2 MBps), TCH doesn't provide any figure (or it's me who couldn't find one). On the other hand, with OVH we don't have any traffic limit (strange, but again - no mention anywhere about such), while with TCH there is a listed limit of 600 GB. Comments please?
Then, since I am thinking about a fully unmanaged server, the second question (and actually the main reason for moving from OVH) is whether we can have our own choice of Linux distro installed - particularly, Gentoo.
I've been having an outstanding experience with TCH support so far, so I'd presume that helping with an installation from scratch would not be impossible (we could supply a preconfigured image, or something similar that can get the machine up and running minimally - and then do the rest of the setup remotely). Would something like this be possible?
