I just tried that...no luck. The docs suggest that there can be a problem with shared hosting. But I installed mysql locally and it works fine that way. Looks like a really painless way to get started. Thanks, Peter.

Does anyone have experience with Navicat? http://www.mysqlstudio.com/ It looks like it will handle some conversions I'll need to do. So far I haven't been able make it connect. Asks for Host name, Port, User name, and Password. Any suggestions? Thanks, Peter.

Just to say thanks. I signed up for hosting an hour ago and have already uploaded a page by ftp, set my DNS pointers and logged onto cpanel. Great response!
