After thinking about this a bit, I guess the easiest solution would be to set up the following forwarders: em1@domain -> em@isp em2@domain -> em@isp This way, I would bypass the acct1@domain all together. Correct? Any flaws in the logic above? thx. w. Thx, Thomas! w.

I apologize for opening up an old thread, but I ran into a similar issue. I just want to confirm some things before I delete the email acct. Based on the discussion above, it appears that email forwarding can happen without having an acct. I currently have: em1@domain forwarded to acct1@domain em2@domain forwarded to acct1@domain acct1@domain forwarded to em@isp Currently, my acct1@domain is filling up dramatically and I wanted to setup some type of auto delete. However, based on the discussion, this is not necessary. Would the following situation work: If I delete acct1@domain would my em1@domain and em2@domain still be forwarded to em@isp? Thanks for your time. w.

Can I install my own IMAP implementation? Something like Courier IMAP? I'm not quite satifisfied with the TCH installed IMAP implementation, UW IMAP. w.

Thanks, Bruce. Worked just as you described. Thanks for your help. w.

I would like to know if it's possible to have a subdomain without redirection? for instance, I set up the following subdomain domain1.site.com -> www.site.com/domain1 However, when I type in "domain1.site.com", my url in the location bar changes to "www.site.com/domain1". I do not want the url to change, is this possible? Thanks for your time and consideration. w.

Hi Mike. Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to confirm. I feel much better now w.

I was just curious what happens to email if there is a server outage? Are the emails queued up for later delivery? Just wanted to confirm what is done at TCH. Thanks. w.

Thanks for the response, Don. Just wanted to make sure and clarify.

Are there any services in place at TCH for email backup and restore? Will backing up the home directory achieve this? Also, will restoring the home directly restore all of the email for that particular backup set?

For the sake of closing the discussion, below is what I received the following message from a sysadmin: Guess no subfolders with TCH's IMAP implementation.. sounds kinda weird.. I'm gonna follow up to see why that is..

Perhaps the difference lies in the Fastmail using the Cyrus implementation whereas TCH uses the UW IMAP implementation. Found the following link for a high level overview: http://www.unt.edu/benchmarks/archives/1998/may98/cyrus.htm But still didn't find any mentionings of subfolders. I'm still curious if I can create subfolders. I'll send a ticket to the help desk. w.

What kind of IMAP implementation does TCH provide? I ask b/c I notice a couple of differences with regards to other IMAP servers that I've dealt with. They are: 1. Other service have IMAP that supports quota management. ie, able to click on the inbox, choose properties and view my quota on the account. 2. Ability to create subfolders. Seems as if I'm unable to do this. I've tried using Mozilla Thunderbird and I've also tried to do this via the cpanel squirrelmail. 3. Inbox as root path. When I subscribe as IMAP, Mozilla TB shows my drafts, sent, and trash folders all on the same hierarchy structure as my inbox and they're titled: INBOX.Sent, INBOX.Trash, etc. Could this be one of the reasons why I'm unable to create subfolders? Just curious as to why I'm seeing differences with the IMAP implementation at TCH. For reference, I'm comparing the IMAP service with that of Fastmail. I believe they are using Cyrus IMAP. Just curious.. w.

Thanks for all the assistance, I just entered the domain name but specified an alternate access method (IMAP). I always thought IMAP and POP addresses would be different from one another, but I guess not?? w.

Can you pleaes provide some links to documentation on this or perhaps the server name to access imap instead of pop email accounts. Thanks for your assistance. w.

Does TCH offer IMAP support for email? I've found a couple of references to IMAP on the forum but nothing definitive on the topic. w.

Has this issue of multiple identities in squirrelmail been resolved? I was also able to add multiple identities if I access the non "sqmail" way a couple of days ago, but now I don't see that option anymore. Please advise/assist as I would like to have this feature. w.

Thanks TCH for all your help and support in this issue. I did what was mentioned (created subdomain w/o redirection) and things worked great! I think my problem was I created the directory myself instead of letting the creation of the subdomain handle it. Also, the url is correct in that it shows the subdomain instead of reverting. Great!!! Awesome support! Rock Sign w.

Basically, I went into cpanel and did the "manage subdomains" options. I first created a subdomain and then setup redirection to point it to a particular directory in my share. Is this the correct manner for doing it? like PDABruce, the url changes once the page is loaded. Is this how it's supposed to work?

I think I ran across this term while playing with apache a while back and was curious if this option is available. I've tried doing this via subdomains but did not achieve desirable results. Perhaps I'm missing something?? I own: domain.com domain/public_html/ I want: sub.domain.com domain/public_html/sub/ when I set this option up in cpanel, I basically get url redirection. sub.domain.com -> domain.com/sub Is there anyway to get this sort of functionality without the url changing? Thanks for any help and suggestion. w.
