well I'll tell ya what... in the past two weeks... a friend that uses comcast has gotten emails I've sent up to 2 days late. Emails I get from her have been up to a day or two late as well. NOT ALL OF THEM.. but one in say, 5. I have another friend who's using email through her work... a pharmaceutical company. I sent her email about a week ago, and she got it 4 days later. I understand these things happen. I know it wasn't either of their servers, because when we tried sending from their accounts to either my yahoo webmail or earthlink... they went through. Also when I sent them emails from these other accounts, again, no problem. Again, I know hangups and hiccups and lag, etc. happens with email in general. Lord knows my work servers can be way backed up. My reason for posting, honestly, was just to find out if there were any known issues as to why my emails have been delayed. I haven't LOST any that I know of, but just delayed. I figured maybe there was server maintenance going on.. I dunno. Other than this most recent issue, I've been very happy with TCH.

sorry, typo, TCH, but that's funny nonetheless. Thanks for all your help guys.

nope, she gets no email stating any kind of error. It may be on comcast's end, I mean I get mail from basically everybody, and never really have anyone telling me im not getting their male, except this one person that only uses comcast. that mail still hasn't come through yet, we'll see. It's just funny to think about how many emails in my lifetime in this day and age I probably haven't gotten and never knew I was suppose to get. Maybe my entire life would have taken a different path. Does tch realize they could possibly have enough power to unknowingly alter the course of person's future forever? I'm probably just tired.

I'm not getting some emails. Details: For some reason, I occasionally do not receive emails that people have sent me. One in particular has happened a number of times. A friend of mind is sending from a Comcast.net address from her home. She asks me a few days later "you get that email?" And I never got it! It has happened a few times like I said, seems to happen randomly. She is 100% sending to the right address, as she is only hitting "reply" to the emails I'm sending her. Sometimes they'll pop in a couple days later, sometimes not at all. I check with both Outlook and the webmail programs. Sometimes we try to test it, and the emails come in just fine. What could be the reason for this? What good is having an email address that only receives 9 out of 10 emails. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

this is what I get: FROM: Mail System Internal Data [MAILER- DAEMON@server26.totalchoicehosting.com] SUBJECT: DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE -- FOLDER INTERNAL DATA This text is part of the internal format of your mail folder, and is not a real message. It is created automatically by the mail system software. If deleted, important folder data will be lost, and it will be re-created with the data reset to initial values. since i'm just d/l'ing through outlook, i figure no harm in deleting it daily.

Now this is stranger.... I just now received the email that says "DO NOT DELETE - ETC..." that I get because I also use the webmail... (strange i get that message... i forget if i can do without it.. but i delete every time.. as i did this time..) NOW.. i no longer get that error. I DO NOT GET IT. but.. i guess it works... strange!!!! thanks for your help if anything else goes wrong I'm sure I'll repost.

My settings are the same... like I said the email still works fine... just get that error when there are no messages. Could just be a buggy outlook??

Kind of strange, but I've had my TCH email setup in outlook and working perfectly for a while now. All of a sudden, yesterday when I hit the send/receive button on outlook xp, if I have no mail it comes with a "Sending and Receiving reported Unknown error 0x800CCC97" However, if I have mail, it downloads it (or uploads outgoing mail) just fine, and no error. So it isn't like outlook isn't working, it's that when I have no TCH mail to be d/l'd it comes back with that error, kind of just annoying... anyone hear of this? Now that I think about it, I added another address to my list of email accounts in outlook, I think it started around then. But that account (comcast.net) is sending and receiving just fine, as is the TCH email, just with the error I mentioned. strange!! also, mail through webmail still works as perfect as always, no errors or problems there.

I don't want to host his site, it's a part of my site, but it's the part he will be working on. He has his own webspace already. It is a family member, lives with me, etc. In essence what I'm trying to do is give him an ftp account so he can upload what he's worked on to the part of the website design he is responsible for. I suppose I could just give him the general access password but I'd rather not. if this is unacceptable or is against policy, then either I will upload the stuff myself or look at other options. I dont' want to break rules.

also when i create a ftp account, that gives that account its own directory? that only that account can log into right?

I'm new at this, I just got an account. What I would like to do is setup a subdomain (pinkbear.liquidcouch.net). what exactly does this do? I want to give somebody their own ftp account, and give them that subdomain to upload their site to with their ftp account. I created an ftp account for him and it comes up as liquidcouch.net/pinkbear and it ALSO put his webpage at the pinkbear.liquidcouch.net subdomain i set up. why? I basically want pinkbear.liquidcouch.net to be HIS site, HIS website. so I guess somehow the pinkbear ftp space and his public_html folder are linked to that subdomain? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

Holy Mary Mother Of God that was a quick response. And no you didn't sound patronizing, I know what ports are but I wasn't sure how they worked with email. So I think what you're saying is that if I were to use my TCH email as my main email, I should be able to receive any and all email from anybody just as if I were using say... comcast or earthlink or aol or any other ISP? If so I will be calling Verizon, I guess the problem is on their side. Thanks again for the quick response.

I am a new member. I have setup an email for myself. I use Horde to access it, as well as Outlook. I seem to be able to send and receive email fine all around... but my question is... I keep hearing about some kind of different port you guys use for email, I could be way off base, but should that prevent me in any way from receiving any email from anybody? Companies? etc? I have signed up for local phone service and provided the email I created with my TCH service as my contact email, and when I was through with the order it said I will receive a confirmation email shortly with tracking #, etc. that was two days ago I have received nothing. Is there a way an email like this could have been blocked? My goal is to use my TCH as my MAIN email for all purposes. I dont' want any email from any company/person to be filtered... I want to receive all email sent to me from ANYBODY. Is this the case? Or is it possibly a problem on Verizon's side and I should indeed be able to receive emails such as this auto-confirmation email? TIA!

I'm not a refugee, but I just got my account setup and my site propagated today. It's been several hours and I'm already more impressed with TCH than I thought possible. And the biggest thing, other than the serious cPanel and slew of options and capabilities..... I know it's been said many times too... is the customer support. Looking forward to staying put here for a while.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for it. I probably rushed through the setup process, and it probably wasn't the smartest to sign up right when I'm trying to change addresses, but I am kind of between a rock and a hard place, timewise.

I clicked the "register a site" and it brought me to a secure server type of page where I registered and payed my cash for one year of service. Then I went to sign up for the silver plan... and when i put in the domain I requested it said it's available and gave me two options to click either 1. i will register this domain or 2. I am the owner of this domain and will handle the transfer myself. i clicked the second one since I just registered it 5 minutes ago. is this the right one? i basically just wanted to register a domain to use on totalchoice. that's it. let me know if i have done this correctly. Also there could be credit card address issues as I am in the middle of changing addresses. thanks in advance.
