  1. Hi Don. I didn't find any sample site on the installation. I've tried to look at the sourceforge demo site, but can't understand it too well there. I have the overall concept well understood, but navigation is confusing. The problem I'm having now is I want to look at the source of a page and it says it can't be viewed beacuse it hasn't been cached (yet). How do I cache it otr when does it get cached? I'm close to trying CMSmadesimple instead.
  2. Thanks! That worked!! I've set the settings as best as I can determine and have entered the Etomite CMS. I can't quite see how to view the existing web pages. It looks like I might have to set a path variable somewhere to the default.html. The current setup looks like I'm creating a new web site from scratch? Will have to start reading the Etomite Users manual. Thanks again Steve
  3. I have sucessfully uploaded the etomite files and changing access permissions per their direction, but am stuck at the install program. The install program runs and sees that the correct permissions are 'OK" but if fails to connect to the MYsql database. Any suggestions? I'm not sure there is a field Access hosts. do I need to provide something there on TCH? Steve
  4. Hi TCH-Don, I have just been reading FAQ's at TCH and towards the end I found an answer that shell access is no longer allowed. Did you use FTP to upload the etomite files(directories) to the server? Steve
  5. Sorry for not replying sooner! Thanks for the recomendations. I passed them on as a favor to the account owner and thought they could figure out a solution, but I guess I need to help them with the new setup. Up until now I have been helping them, with only ftp and cpanel access. I am not familiar with shell access. Could you tell me what the owner needs to ask to get shell access or do they have it by default ? It looks like having shell access is a much easier way to install a CMS system, rather than ftp. Steve
  6. I am having problems with the basic html editor in cpanel. The editor is adding special "A" characters and some special f characters when the page is saved. The problems compounds each time the page is saved, doubling the number of characters each time. You can see an example that follows. in the text content notice the extra A's and all of them at the bottom of the page next to the copyrigth notice. We switched to this editor so that simple content management could be done by its creator, but this glitch makes that imposible. http://www.communitysustainable.org/permaculture.html
