Greetings to all; I'm new.
Classic situation:
My wife leaves tomorrow morning for a business trip and it is late. I'm afraid her hard drive is ill or gone. It is an Inspiron 300 laptop, and will not boot into windows. (XP) I get an 1000-0146 error message during diagnostics, and a 1-4-6 beep count.
I've reseated the hard drive, but see no difference. I'm tempted to drive half an hour to where I can borrow an XP CD, in hopes that there will be something worthwhile left on the drive once I'm up and running. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
