scotttyz Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 When adding an FTP account in Cpanel (i.e. Username) it adds (Username@****) is there a way to add FTP user accounts without the full email address???? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 I don't think it's possible. I will ask why. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 OK, it is not possible and here's why (only pertains to shared hosting accounts). If it did not add the @domain.com then there would be conflicts if someone else in a different domain tried to add the same user name. So if you want to add a user named Bob and it didn't add the @****** and I added a user called Bob without @**** it wouldn't know what to do. Quote
scotttyz Posted April 6, 2004 Author Posted April 6, 2004 so can I ONLY add user @mydonaim.com? or can I use @someotherdomain.com also (add customers using thier email?) Quote
TCH-Don Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 No, you can only use user@yourdomain I tried to set up an ftp account as me@mysite.com for one of my domains and appeared to set it up, but when I looked at the ftp accounts it changed to me@myrealdomain.com so it just used the name before the @ for the user. sorry. On a related note when you setup an ftp account, you do not have to use the name of a folder for the user. You can set up user and password and then replace the folder name with something else such as files. this will give you added security, since the user is now different from the folder. To guess the access, someone will have to guess both user and password instead of just the password. Quote
