mjlyons Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I'm trying to figure out how cpanel's email forwarding feature works underneath cPanel's UI. Is it a feature of cpanel, or some other tool/software? Are there any databases or files that store the forwarding data? Thanks! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 It is a feature in cPanel. You just create the forward for the email address for your domain. The email address does not have to have an account associated with it. I use it for disposable addresses myself. Like if I order something online I will create a forward for the site@mydomain.ext and forward that to an actual email address. If the company ever sells that address and I start receiving spams I delete it and don't have to worry about every getting another message to that address. Quote
mjlyons Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 Thanks, I was mostly getting at what is happening underneath the cPanel forwarder UI. When I add a forwarder, what exactly is happening underneath? For example, is it notifying the MTA of the forwarder? Quote
