mlaimo Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Hi, My site was formerly maintained by a friend. I had Blogger on my front page so that I could update my readers. With blogger discontinuing ftp (whatever that means), I was told to download WP and use that. I did, under my domain of laimo.com--the WP url is http://laimo.com/wp-admin/. How do I get WP into my main page like blogger was? Please help! Thanks, Michael Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Welcome to the forums Michael. The link you have provided is your administrative login page. Your home page would be http://laimo.com which actually displays the content of your site. Quote
mlaimo Posted June 12, 2010 Author Posted June 12, 2010 Thanks for the reply Bruce. If you look at my site, you'll see my blogger right in the middle of it. How do I get Wordpress in there and blogger out? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 The only thing I see about Blogger is a link. Not sure what you mean. Quote
mlaimo Posted June 13, 2010 Author Posted June 13, 2010 Hello Thomas and Bruce, Thanks for the warm welcome! I really do appreciate the assistance here, as I did not build my site, and really am not saavy with this kind of stuff. When you go to laimo.com, the front page is my blog, which was placed there via ftp by the guy who built my site. It's a google 'blogger' account. Blogger recently implemented a 'no ftp' policy (?) which forced me to create a new url for my blog, which will no longer update on laimo.com. It's now at http://mlaimo.blogspot.com/. Upon reading through the posts on your board, I saw to download wordpress, which if I read correctly, will allow me to place my blog (and my blog history) on the laimo.com frontpage, as I used to do. I simply want to continue blogging with my blog on laimo.com, as before. How do I do this? Thanks SO much for your help! Michael Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Are you saying if you enter a new post by logging into your WordPress login page it will not appear at laimo.com? I just ran a tracert to laimo.com and it is serving content from quantum.tchmachines.com which is a TCH server. It's not coming from Blogger. Did whoever helped set up your WordPress blog import your Blogger posts? That's what it looks like to me. Quote
mlaimo Posted June 13, 2010 Author Posted June 13, 2010 Yes! I made a new post on Wordpress (which I set up myself), the post was published...but when I click 'view post', it takes me to my laimo.com home page, and as you can see, the recent update from yesterday is not there. All my old posts are there (the ones I made over the last few years on blogger), but the new one isn't. So...how do I fix this? Do I need to import all my old blogger posts? If so....how? Thank you again for your time and patience! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Ok, on Blogger there is a post from June 12th. Where did you create that post? In Blogger or in your admin interface in WordPress on laimo.com? I'm confused. Is there something in your Blogger account that is pulling the information you are creating at laimo.com? It's been a long time since I had a Blogger account I'm sorry I don't remember how it transferred the information. I do remember having to set up something for FTP but when doing so there was a redirect set up. Without having access to your accounts I am not going to be able to give you a straight answer. If you have a redirect set up, removing it should stop it from going to Blogger. I don't think you need to import your older posts, they appear to be in your WordPress account here. I could be wrong.
