Hi.. first I don't speak english very well... I speak french.... :thumbup:

 

I have a big problem with my database backup. I make my backup on the CPANEL and phpmyadmin.. I export the database on my computer.....

 

But the problem is.. I have two database.. oscommerce and phpbb forum... and twice is a FRENCH website...... and when a make backup.. the phpmyadmin don't support a french language.... don'T support the french letter... : éèçâî ........

 

Example... im my database:

 

pêle-mêle

the good word in french is: pêle-mêle

 

But...I an'T use my database backup ??

 

help me...

Welcome to the forums :thumbup:

You can download a database backup by going to

cpanel > backup

and click on the name of your database to download a compressed file backup.

Wwhich you can later upload in the same place later if needed.

I suppose, He doesn't support the french lettre..... èâçôç ..................etc......

 

Do you have ither option for me... bacause I don't use my backup file in problem case...

Hopefully someone else more knowledgable than I will correct me (and then we both will know), but it appears that it will not support any other character set other than english. I'm assuming this is because of the character set on the server it self...not your computer.

 

As a possible solution, you might want to name your files something like os1-25-07 and forum1-25-07. That way you would know which database is which and the date you made the backup.

 

Please don't give up on making backups. In the unfortunate situation where you need it, a recent back up could be a real time saver. I speak from my own experience!
