r32chaos Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Hello everyone... I have been able to set up Linksys wireless service and also have a password to make it secure. The problem is, each time I reboot the notebook it does not seem to connect automatically. I have to open NetGear by Linksys and ask it to connect and enter the WEP password and then I have to go to Network Places, find the wireless network connection and right click, choose "view available wireless services" and then have to select our service, enter the password...and still it will not connect easily. This routine has to be repeated numerous times before it connects. I wonder if this password has to be re-entered every single time the notebook is rebooted...or is it just a Linksys bug? Your help will be immensely appreciated... Sincerely, Martin Quote
Madmanmcp Posted September 28, 2005 Posted September 28, 2005 Hi Martin, networking is a complicated process and you need to give us correct information before we can help with your problem. I have to open NetGear by Linksys and ask it to connect and enter the WEP password Netgear is a company that makes networking equipment, and Linksys is also a company tha makes networking equipment...both are totally independant and have no relation to the other besides making networking equipment. Sometimes they will work with one another, and sometimes they may not. So, tell us what operating system you are using, what brand router and what network cards you have. Next would be the protocol they support, 802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g. For best results you want all devices to be on the same one...but sometimes they are compatable with others and will work just fine. Since yours is not working I suspect you are mixing either manufacturers or protocols and will need to try and get them all in sync. Quote
