duker Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Hello all. I've been working with this for about a month now and I'm really enjoying it. Anyway, I am interested in setting up a message board and/or chat option on my site. How do I go about doing that? I think I need to go through the cpanel, but I can't remember how to access that. I have been using an FTP client from my base machine that just logs me in etc. How do I get back to the control panel? And, how do I set up the message board and/or chat from there? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Dave Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 The easiest way to cpanel would be www.your-tch-hosted-site.com:2082. In there you should see "add on scripts", click it and then click either invisionboard (Same as the one used here, but an earlier version) and follow the instructions. Or you can choose phpbb, same here, click it and follow instructions. A note on both ones though, they are most likely one or two versions older than what is current for both so you may wanna go to respective site and download them from there and install it yourself, both I believe have very good setup instructions. TCH-Thomas Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Here are a few forum scripts: http://www.invisionboard.com/ http://www.phpbb.com/ http://www.simplemachines.org/ (This one is not in the cpanel, but several of us here uses it.) Quote

Nor is the /Cpanel after my site name. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I'm not getting the login option or anything when I enter either of these. my site is watterswebsite.com I tried watterswebsite.com:2082 - no luck with that I also tried watterswebsite.com/Cpanel - nothing there either? Am I missing something? Thanks for your help Dave Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Ok, please try it with a / at the end so it looks like this http://yourtchhostedsite.com:2082/ Quote
TCH-Don Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 http://watterswebsite.com:2082/ shows me a login. be sure to allow cookies and java script. note names are case sensitive so Cpanel will not not work but cpanel will Quote
duker Posted June 24, 2005 Author Posted June 24, 2005 Ok, I was able to get there now. Not sure what was going wrong before, but it works now. I have the message board up and running. Thanks for your help with this. Dave Quote
