Hello everyone, I'm new to tch and excited to get my site up and running. I've been playing with oscommerce for many hours now. Seems easy to use but i'm having a major problem.

When I try to write script on my index.php I have an error message:

I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/mvanhswj/public_html/osCommerce/includes/languages/english/index.php

This script is for my front page of my website. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I've looked in my cpanel to make sure my ftp files let me read and write, they are all correct. I'm missing something. I dont know if the ftp files have any bearing on this issue or not, just dont know where else to look. :)

Thanks in advance for any help ;)

Welcome to the forums, Topaz! :)

I've never used osCommerce, but your error message sounds like a permissions problem. Check the permissions on the index.php file listed in the error message - if the permissions are 0644, I'd suggest changing them to 0666. That should give your script permission to write to the file.

Thanks for the warm welcome,

I've been searching all morning for the index.php file to change the permissions. Do you know where i can find it?

Bruce, i'm so close here. I'm at the file but when I try to change it from 644 to 666 when I click Change it automatically goes back to 644.

Thanks, Topaz
