cajunman4life Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 (edited) This may seem a bit silly, but... in cPanel, when I select "generate a full backup", does it do exactly what it's name implies (ie back up mysql db's, email, everything)? As for restoring by means of a full backup, how is that done? Would I provide the backup to TCH support and they do the restore? I know I can easily do a home directory and mysql db restore (I had to restore the db for my forums several times the last time I upgraded phpbb... silly me). TCH-Thomas Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 As for the full backup restore, I think (but not sure) that you can upload your backup to the root of your account (before public_html) and submit a ticket and tell the help guys it´s stored there and and ask that they restore it. Quote

So every time you run it you add to your space. that can add up fast. Why not just send yourself the databases and have a home download on your computer and just update it when needed. I do the home backup before major changes, but I have my site on my computer normally as I use ftp to upload it. Quote

So it only increases my used space for a few minutes at most. This functionality is available directly through cpanel, I was just wondering if I could "automate" it with a cron job. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Aaron, I use dbsender (a php script) to email my databases nightly. Any time I make significant changes to my web site I then do a full backup and download it. dbsender can be set up in cron simply. See this post Quote
