rozeltf Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Hi, I've been reading the forums for tips on setting up with tch. I will most likely sign-up for a new account because it appears you support Movable Type and my current host does not. I will probably also transfer my existing domain as I use it for other stuff and email. I've read here it is somewhat advantageous to have your registrar seperate from your host. How can I tell if my current host is also my registrar? Thank You (I'll probably have a couple follow-up ???) Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Welcome to the forums rozeltf If you do a whois on your domain name it will list who your registrar is. Quote

rozeltf Posted May 4, 2005 Author Posted May 4, 2005 Thanks for the welcoming, A question on establishing new account, right now I don't have a domain name picked out but I do want to start on the content. Is it possible to establish an account, work on the content without having an actual domain name? thanks Quote
Guest Serpentine Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Sure it is. Register with the name you want to use and they will set the account up for you. I would note that depending on the name that there may be the possibility of someone else registering the name first though. Quote

I just want an account with the auto generated account name so I can start the content and "domain-name" it later. Maybe not practical? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 You must enter a domain name (the one you intend to use) to purchase hosting accounts. Quote
TCH-Don Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Welcome to the forums, rozeltf Note, if you pick a domain and register, and later have to use another, just open a help desk ticket (link at top of page) to ask to have your domain changed. Quote
