lareneg Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Hey all, How might I get a cronjob to send a backup to my email account? I saw the post about FTP backup and that is exactly what I want except for it to be sent by email. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Welcome to the forums, lareneg I would recommend using dbsender and then follow the directions in this thread to configure it. It's the one I use and I'm happy with it. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 No, it only backs up databases. Sorry I misread your post. You can look through this thread to get ideas for doing a full backup. Don't forget that a full backup could be quite large depending on the size of your site and is better suited to be downloaded with FTP. Quote
lareneg Posted May 3, 2005 Author Posted May 3, 2005 on forums i presume that the users would be stored in MYsql databases, but where would the posts go? Also, what is the best FTP storage host around? Quote

Since it is your forum database that you want backed up the dbsender script I referred to above will compress and email you the file. Depending on how popular your forum is depends on whether or not email would be a good choice. The compression factor is quite good and email may work well for you. Quote
