Is there any way to stop someone form using my e-mail to send out spam? My mailbox is getting more and more "Undeliverable mail" from different servers. Also I don't want anyone getting mad at me for Spam I'm not sending.

I'd still like to use my e-mail but not sure how to block other people from using it.

Any ideas?

I changed my PW in Cpanel, but I'm still getting returned mail.

Doesnt matter what you do. All they have to do is put your email as their return address and you start getting bounces. Happens to me all the time. The important thing is that it is not your IP address so you dont have much to worry about.

You have now officialy become part of the internet family. :)

First of all, welcome to the forums. No, there's not a whole lot you can do to TOTALLY stop spam. However, there are things you can do to minimize it. For example, one of the simplest things to do is to turn on Spam Assasin. If necessary, you can tweak the settings. Another it to get one of the "free" email addresses and use that for most correspondence. Then, give your primary email address only to people you absolutely trust.

As I said, these are but a few of many different things you can try. Hope this helps!

Perhaps TotalChoiceHosting would consider in future adding a SPF record to people's domains?

SPF basically is a text string which states which servers mail from your domain should route through, any other server, means the person faked the from address. Hotmail, Yahoo!, Gmail and many others are starting to mark mail as if it passed spf or not. You would usually add your ISPs SMTP server and your host's SMTP server to the allowable domain list.

This does not stop spam, it does not stop people sending mail as you, but it lets the end user know it wasn't really you, so they don't send a angry email to you, it also could stop, eventually, email servers sending bounced messages to these addresses.

Just an idea anyway :no2:
