Can't Change Password

I'm in the CP of my site and I want to change the password. I write the correct current password, I write the new one twice and then I press 'Change your password now!' button.

 

After a looong delay i get the following message: There was an error manipulating the password file.

 

What do I do now? It kind of urgent, the client is waiting for his password.
