Mozilla Thunderbird was working OK for about the last 3 months except I kept getting an error message stating there was a mismatch for my security certificate. I would just tell the program to send the message anyway and away it went.

Last night I opened a trouble ticket and now I can't send any email at all. I changed a bunch of settings in the programs servers and settings panel. and now I can't send any email.

The person who last looked at my ticket sent me here and my frustration level is mounting. I have spent WAY too much time on this. I would appreciate any help.

Please assume I know nothing.

Also, in the course of all this tinkering. I don't see any certificates in the security tab at all. I seem to have lost it.

Any help will be most appreciated

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums Bob!

I use Thunderbird for my email and don't use the security certificate feature and it works.

You say you changed a bunch of settings. If you open the account server settings you should be using mail.****** for the incoming POP3 server and outgoing SMTP server. Incoming on port 110 and SMTP on port 25. But if your ISP is preventing you from sending email which is becoming more the case you can try changing the SMTP port from 25 to 26.

You also have to make sure that you authenticate to send email. Select the Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the account settings list. Make sure the checkbox for name and password is checked and enter your email address in the name field. If you have more than one outgoing server make sure you edit the one for your mail domain. You may have to select the Advanced button to see it. This is also the place you will change the port number to 26.

And set the use secure connection to NO.

Hope that helps.
