tmccartney66 Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 I have a directory in my site that I want password protected. I have also set up a subdomain/redirect TO that directory. The weird thing is that users have to type in the username and password TWICE to get the home page of that protected directory to come up. Any idea what the deal is? It's almost like the server is making folks authenticate in order to redirect them and again to open the page. Suggestions welcome... Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 (edited) I´m not exactly sure if I understand you correctly, but have a look at this post to see if it may help you. Otherwise I am sure someone with the correct answer will be here shortly. EDIT: The above mentioned post may not give the actual solution, but may give a hint on whats wrong. But I also see TCH-Rick having a look at this post, so lets see if he have a proper answer. Edited October 21, 2004 by TCH-Thomas Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 You say you have a folder and then setup a subdomin redirect? This may not be the problem, but normally you just create the subdomain in cpanel and it creates the folder and sets up the redirection. I have seen where adding a subdomain to an existing folder can cause a problem. And then sometimes adding your own redirection can add more problems. Can you try the same thing on a new subdomain created in cpanel then add the password protection. Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Ok I just created a subdomain in cpanel then using cpanel > webprotect I added the folder that was created with a user Now if I try to go to the folder or subdomain I only need to login once. Remember to close your browser if you visited the folder before adding the web protect. Quote
