Madmanmcp Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Ever want to see what the MAC OS looks like...without having to buy all the hardware? Now you can. This software emulator allows you to run MAC OS X on your Windows PC. Looks like Mike has a use for one of those cheap hard drives h_tp://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,65323,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_1 Quote
LisaJill Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 There are some questions about the "reality" and "validity" of this OS. Quote
borfast Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 (edited) I don't need that, I already had it running here on Linux using PearPC But it's quite slow, unfortunately. I saw this earlier today on Slashdot and if it's true, then it will be great. They say their emulator runs at about 80% of your PC's speed. Let's see about the price tag By the way, didn't you find it funny that their server was running on ASP.NET pages but after being slashdotted (the effect of being featured on Slashdot, meaning the site will get large thousands of hits per hour), their site went down for some time and then came back up using PHP? Nicholas Naime Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 Legally, I don't think Apple will like this idea. I'm sure Apple's lawyers are working on it. I sincerely doubt it is possible to achieve such high emulation speed results. It is almost impossible to emulate RISC architecture on a CISC microprocessor. Much easier to do it the other way around. Quote
borfast Posted October 14, 2004 Posted October 14, 2004 I agree with Nicholas. And there are some very insightful posts on the forum Lisa posted the link to. Quote
