Help! Need Browser Recommendations.

Help! I'm so sick of all the problems I have with my Internet Explorer browser. I want to switch to something else and need recommendations for a good browser to use on Windows XP.

I've heard of Mozilla and Firefox but I don't know much about either. Which is better and why? Are there any other good ones to consider? Also, if I install a new browser without removing Internet Explorer, will that cause a problem? Will these other browsers allow me to import my favorites list from IE?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Ven

I run both Firebird and IE6. No problems having both. I also use Netscape 7. I use all 3 to test my website when I make changes. My preference is Firebird. I hear Firefox is great so I will update one of these days. Importing is easy.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I installed Firefox and it's great. All the browser problems, including the problem I was having with phpmyadmin in the control panel, have disappeared. I can't believe I put up with that IE crap for so long!

Thanks so much for all your help. You guys are great!

Ven

My Firefox would crash if I tried to view a movie or clip and it required Windows Media Player. There is a fix for it on the FF web site. The Flash Player had to be downloaded separately but other than that it seems solid and faster rendering the pages.

youneverknow ;)

The only problem I have with Firefox is on some of the Microsoft pages it won't display and I'm convinced it's on-purpose censoring of browsers by MS. Other than that it's been great!

I use Firefox, and I can honestly say it's the best browser I've ever used. My only problem is that when I try to read a PDF document, it hangs on me. My workaround is to right click and "save link as", then open it from outside Firefox.

Anyone else have this problem? How do you get around it?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks/thought that. Back when it was only IE and Netscape I used to try and go to the netscape page in IE and it would crash every time. I never had a problem going to any other page.

Try two things:

a) Uninstall Adobe Reader 6.0 and insteall 6.0.1 instead

B) Disable all the extra plugins not needed.
