photog
How do I use the shared SSL on our site. I know that there is a SSL included that we can use but how can we create a file or folder to access the security layer? I was told to it hooks up to my site on the www folder but I cannot seem to create a working directory. Andrew
Lianna
Shared SSL is available to every account here but not setup by default. Please issue a help desk ticket requesting ssl for your domain. The helpdesk response then should include instructions for accessing it. Lianna
Bill_USA
Forgive my inexperience, but when would ther be a case where you would want a shared connection and a dedicated ssl connection?
Lianna
Hm. Well it's a matter of appearance if you ask me. But I'm not the expert. With shared, your visitor's address bar will reflect an address that is not 'originating' from the same site. With dedicated, your visitors will always see your domain name in the address bar of their browser. Which company would you feel more comfortable completing a transaction with: https://totalchoicehosting.com/~bill/checkout.php or https://billusa.com/checkout.php Lianna
photog
Ok, I now have the SSL added to my site but how do I use in my directory setup? I was told that it is uses the same directory with the https://server6.tot..... and still I am lost on how to connect the two together. Any ideas? Thanks. Lianna
Andrew, Congratulations! You get to be the first person that officially send to the new TCH Help Website! Try this link and see if it helps you out. TCH Support Web Site > SSL > Examples Click the SSL link on the left border menu and then go see the examples that are shown.
