Deb
Hi folks, I am new here, or rather "back again'! I am writing to ask for help setting up AMember on my site. Liana helped me with this months ago and she was super about it. This php stuff (or whatever it is) is totally beyond me. I would be willing to pay a member or staff to do this for me, if that is allowed. TIA Deb
TCH-Bruce
Here's a Help Page for setting up amember that Lianna put together.
Deb
I did read that page Bruce and thanks. Actually, it doesn't matter now because I've discovered that AMember no longer offers a free program. It's a 30 day free "trial" which after expiration, you are required to purchase the Pro version. For a new business and in Canadian dollars, it's just too pricey for me. (it would be over $200 CDN), so will have to figure something else out. I notice there is a password protect pages area in CPanel but I'm a bit challenged as you can tell. Thanks anyway Deb
TCH-Bruce
If you are talking about Web Protect in CPanel it's pretty easy to use. When you select it, a list of your directories (folders) comes up. Select the folder you wish to protect. You will then be shown a screen where you can add users and passwords that can access this folder. Then upload your protected pages into this folder. Anytime someone tries to access anything in this folder they will be prompted for the login/password combination.
Deb
Thanks, I'll check it out. Using Bravenet at the moment. Deb
webgyrl
When did Amember's free program go to a 30 day trial? That is bad news Is there any other way to do a members only forum that allows users to create their own user name and password that doesn't require the purchase of a program/script? cmuskett
I use Locked Area Lite. It's free.
