DarqFlare Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 Wow, Dumplin.. I can't say I've seen a person that replies personally to every post to them! Quote
Dumplin Posted February 24, 2004 Author Posted February 24, 2004 Wow, Dumplin.. I can't say I've seen a person that replies personally to every post to them! giggle its a habit I have from posting in the public newsgroups for the last 6 years. I enjoy meeting new people and if they are interesting all the better and most important IMO is if I can learn something new all the better.....so far as I said before I like what I see here. No other Hosting Service I have checked out has so much real customer service as TCH. I think Clark Howard would give his seal of approval. Anyway glad to be a part of this wonderful place. As a die hard usenet newsgroup junkie I didn't think this type of Board was good and just a passing fad, however I can see there is a place on the net for this type of communicating. One of the founders of our group is into Linux and PHP and all kinds of other stuff I can't begin to understand but he has Fun and that's what matters. Donna PS I am a poor speller so hope everyone can accept what I call my Creative Spelling Skillls Quote
Head Guru Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 Spelling....We dont need no stinkin spellers here! I for one second your motion of bad spelling. Sometimes, I skip a word cause I spent the past 15 minutes trying to spell it. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 we don't need a speil chucker here. Quote

Ok good.........the reason I use post-its is part of my Job is doing narratives to update status and the program is old and is texted based with no spell checker. We are getting upgraded to Win XP but the main data base is what they call a legacy system. Interesting tidbit in the public groups is a guy called the Spelling Troll and he would go into groups and find spelling errors and correct them......he really is a nice guy and said he would never correct my spelling. He got flamed alot but didn't care. Anyway have a Fun day Thumbs Up Quote

ThumpAZ Posted February 24, 2004 Posted February 24, 2004 Welcome to the Family, Donna I think you'll have fun over here, even though it is one of "those boards" Just let us know if you have any questions and we'll try to get the answer for you post haste. (I typically type posts at least three times before I send them due to spelling errors... part of using at least 2-4 different keyboards all the time and never having taken a typing class in my life) Quote

ThumpAZ Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 The only issue I have with FP is that it is and always has been notorious for producing "dirty" code. Meaning that the pages typically conatin a lot of extraneous items that can jack up the file sizes and cause slow or broken page loads. That being said, I still use FP to check my pages in a semi-live status. I justcopy the code into the HTML tab and then preview them. But I never save a page in it because it goes nuts. Note: I am not saying that FP is not capable of producing high-quality pages, I am only speaking of personal experiences. See you around on the forums! -GG Quote

TCH-Don Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 There is another option, a book on html can be fun, and in the long run more freedom. And using php to include common elements like menus make it easy to maintain. take a look at the mini php turtorials from Total Choice hosting. php mini tutorial by Jim Uni and php mini part one tutorial by TCH-Jack Quote

TCH-Rob Posted February 25, 2004 Posted February 25, 2004 Donna, I didn't know a bit of PHP and just enough HTML to be poor at design. Even though the site I have is a shopping cart someone else has made, I made changes to make it mine without ever using an HTML editor like FP, and that was all I knew coming in here. Now I can look at the code and pretty much find what I am looking for. I am no expert but I am starting to know what to look for off the bat and can make changes I need to make, no drag and drop anymore. I do like that quickness of it though. One last thing. Welcome Home. Quote

Ok I will keep that in mind.....my problem is in order for me to learn something I need to use it every day and working full time leaves me with little play time except on the weekends and I like to shop<G> Thanks for the welcome Quote
