rockram Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 I looked through your website, but I still have a couple of questions. Your documentation says that you have SMTP servers. Is there a limit on the number of emails that can be sent or are they just counted against my bandwidth? I'm wanting to do a newsletter and hope to have several subscribers. I don't want to do a discuss list. Would Mailman work for this? Also, can Mailman determine if a subscriber's mail can accept HTML or only plain text? Does Mailman do double opt-in? I saw that you have a resellers program, but I didn't see anything about affiliates. Do you have an affiliate program? Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 SMTP is only counted against your bandwidth. Keep in mind the Zero-Tolerance SPAM policy, even though it appears you do want to abide by it (asking about double opt-in). I have not worked with MailMan, so I cannot answer those questions for you, but I am sure that someone around here can. Not dealing with the Reseller side, I also don't know about any affiliate program. And searches through the forums has yielded me in thinking that there is not one, per se. Welcome to the site, and I hope to soon be welcoming you to the family! -GG Wel Quote
TCH-Sales Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 That's right, no affiliate program in place, but hey do not let that stop you from telling your friends and family about us! Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 There is the "Add Me to The Family" section. Where, if you follow the instructions (place a link on main page, etc.) TCH will sort of promote your site from their site. There is no charge or payment from this, but it does help to get your site seen. Take a look down the forums a little further and you will see it. Also, on the TCH site, you can easily find the Family Sites. There are some requirements, but the Add Me To The Family link will explain everything to you. -GG Quote
MikeJ Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 TCH has an enforced 50 email per minute sending rate limit, however, that you'll have to be aware of. (I believe that's the limit, I didn't look it up) I haven't administered mailman myself, but I understand.... Mailman does support double-opt in. As far as HTML vs plain, it looks like there's an option to specify MIME or Plain Text if you (a member of the list) are receiving emails in digest mode, but not if you are receiving individual emails. You might be stuck with sending a MIME newsletter with text and HTML. You can have a non-discussion list in mailman by making it a moderated list, and just not approving any emails sent to the list. TCH-Dick Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Yes 50 e-mails every 300 seconds, I would advise against mailman (my opinion is its not that good of a program) a much better program is Dada mail http://mojo.skazat.com/ You can configure it to send mail over time, so say you have 500 messages that need to go out, you can set it to send 50 every 300 seconds, that way you dont hit the cap and the mails go throgh rather than being denied.
