nashville_bill
I have written a Visual Basic program that decodes VINs (vehicle identification numbers) and I think there could be a market for it but I really don't know how to start. Has anyone here produced shareware and sold it? I could use some extra cash.
TCH-Bruce
I write shareware Palm applications and sell them through my web site using eSellerate (www.esellerate.net). They keep 10% of the sale for processing the transaction and bandwidth. I place the demo verisons in my own web space. You can also list with Tucows. Or you can use PayPal. Good luck. nashville_bill
Well, the VIN holds a great description of a vehicle and has a check digit (#9) that uses an algorithm to verify the string of numbers and letters. My program tests that the check digit is valid and gives the user the country of origin, manufacturer and the model year. My wife works in the auto financing business and she wanted a way to test the check digit.
