[=hris Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Hi, I have just seen that the domain servers have updated for the new domain i purchased with you, and I went to the "hosting plans" page to register for your hosting, and received a "We have ran out of room" message. How long will I have to wait to be able to register, as I am now paying for a domain name I cannot use. I would like to have my hosting ready as soon as possible, so would it be advisable to look for another host? Thanks Quote
natimage Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 I don't think you should look for another host...simply because you've found the best. HG said he hopes to have more servers built and be able to start selling again in a few days. Hold tight... Quote
[=hris Posted January 28, 2004 Author Posted January 28, 2004 A few days... How long is a few days? I really need a particular page up before the weekend :S Quote
TCH-Rick Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Right now we can not give a definitive answer on how many days a few days is. It might be optimistic to hope for the weekend. One year ago I decided to move to a new host and jumped on an offer I received in an email. In the few days I was with that host my site was off more than on and tech support took hours to respond. I decided to look around a bit more and ended up here. It took me months to get a refund from the other host and the hassle was not worth it. As Bill mentioned, we will not compromise what we have here by overloading servers. We are making some changes so we can continue to offer the services and support that have led so many people here. If I were looking at a hosting company now I would be patient and wait until accounts are being accepted again and join here. Quote
MikeJ Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 A few days... How long is a few days? I really need a particular page up before the weekend :S If you are really desperate to get your page up by this weekend, PM me and I may consider allowing your domain under my reseller account temporarily as long as you're not super high volume or anything, and assuming TCH doesn't have a problem with it. But once TCH allows additional accounts again, you would need acquire an account and move your site. It's not my intention to take paying accounts away from TCH. I would only recommend this if you absolutely need a page up by this weekend, though. If you only want one by then because it's more convenient, you're better off waiting until next week when you can purchase an account and only have to setup your site once. Quote
cloudrm Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 and, I've got an extra 750MB of space on server 50 that won't be used for at least the next 2 months. If TCH wanted to use it for new biz I'd be cool with it. Quote
Lianna Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 (edited) You guys are awesome. See this is what family is all about. Thanks for supporting TCH and being very clear of you intended support. [=hris, I really think you just need to sit tight for a while. It's worth the wait. Although I don't understand why you waited after purchasing the domain name until propagation before purchasing your space? Wasn't necessary. Edited January 29, 2004 by TCH-Lianna Quote
DarqFlare Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Not only does TCH itself rock, so does its clients. I mean, look at this... We've got hosted TCHers here that are offering their spaces and reseller accounts to help out around here... Quote
TCH-Dick Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Its not that the servers are full, or that we have run out of room. If we were like pretty much every other host out there we could cram a few hundred more sites on each server. 55 servers X 300 =16,500 more sites. But, when you start doing that the network slows down, the servers slow down, people start complaining that their site is loading slow (and it should load slow with 700-1000 sites all crammed on the server) I cant give you actual numbers (I'll leave that up to Bill if he wants to tell) but TCH hosts FAR less than that amount above per server. [=hris Posted January 29, 2004 Author Posted January 29, 2004 I spoke to Head Guru on AIM, and he has convinced me to wait Quote
Head Guru Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 We are now taking orders for Virtual and Reseller Plans. Thanks to anyone who waited. Quote
