webgyrl Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Just trying to configure Dada mail for my site and I had to CHMOD the mail.cgi script. It was set at 644 and I am using cPanel to set it to 755 per the instructions. So far that thing has been chugging for about 5 min. Does it usually take this long to make the change? Thanks, Nat Quote
webgyrl Posted December 11, 2003 Author Posted December 11, 2003 Ok.. my dial up dropped... connection is bad right now b/c of rain. Just went back in and tried to change the Permission to 755 and it won't do it. It just stays at 644. Any ideas why this might be happening? The Permissions tables shows User Group World Read x x x Write x Execute Permission 6 4 4 Thanks, Nat Quote
webgyrl Posted December 11, 2003 Author Posted December 11, 2003 Hmmmm this is not working in cPanel. I also tried using WS FTP but the CHMOD command won't let me change the permission numbers. Strange. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Nat, What file are you trying to change? it is probably because it is a script and you are not the owner. Quote
webgyrl Posted December 12, 2003 Author Posted December 12, 2003 Nat, What file are you trying to change? it is probably because it is a script and you are not the owner. Hi Andy, I'm tryng to change the mail.cgi script for Dada mail. In the online installation instructions, it states to CHMOD the mail.cgi file to 755. From the Dada siteStep #4: Upload Dada MailLog into your hosting account using your FTP program and navigate to your cgi-bin. In your cgi-bin, create a directory called, dada. Navigate into the dada directory you just created. Upload the mail.cgi script and the DADA directory from the distribution that you downloaded into this newly created directory (dada) that's in your cgi-bin. Chmod 755 the mail.cgi script. I tried to do this using cPanel with no luck. I then tried to use WS_FTP LE and it doesn't show numbers. It only shows this: It also says beside the CHMOD function (UNIX) Is there a better FTP program that will enable me to CHMOD the script? Thanks for any help you can give. Nat Quote
TCH-Sales Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 Hey Nat, yes.. there is a better FTP client, try downloading SmartFTP. In SmartFTP all you should have to do is right click the file you want to change the permission of, go down to "Properties/CHMOD" and you can type the number or check the boxes.. whichever suits your fancy. Hope it works out for you! Quote
webgyrl Posted December 12, 2003 Author Posted December 12, 2003 Mitch! SmartFTP worked like a charm! I am CHMODED and ready 2 roll. This Dada program is wonderful! Thanks to everyone who helped out and got me going on this. What would I do without you guys? Nat Quote
