TCH-JimE
Hi, I would like to point out that the CPANEL demo is infact, run by www.cpanel.net themselves and not by us Jim
Shiva
Subdomains are included on all accounts. Add-on domains are only available on reseller accounts. Hi Rickvz That's to bad. I think I've been through about 100 hosts today looking for a suitable one to move to. I have 4 Doms, one that has three Add-on doms that I need to find a better home for. Your wide open forum with so many super people in it had me thinking that this was the place. Not many Hosts offer themselves wide open Like TCH - and fewer yet with such praise from visitors and customers. Unfortunately, and I'm sure you'll understand, I need a host that would support Addon Doms even if they just point to a subdomain. I will bookmarh tch for future reference. Thank you
i960
Why not just get a resellers account? They are pretty cheap for what you get, and it's really convenient if you have more than one website. I have 6 websites being hosted by TCH with a deluxe resellers account and I couldn't be happier. http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web-host...-resellers.html
Shiva
Why not just get a resellers account? They are pretty cheap for what you get, and it's really convenient if you have more than one website. I have 6 websites being hosted by TCH with a deluxe resellers account and I couldn't be happier. http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web-host...-resellers.html I considered such a beast a couple of years ago but: I'm just the Technical contact for many of those I need to move from one very poor host and, because one Dom already has 2 doms attached to it, under a private name server with a static IP which was used in the design of the subsand to remove the two associated doms from the main is like surgically removing conjoined triplets - at their heads. Price is another factor. And the fact that many offer it as part of the package - well.... - but they don't fare as well with openess and friendliness and price that TCH does. I've got a shortlist that I keep at 4, nixing the least likely with the next best as I plod through hosts. TCH is still on the list. I was aksed if it's like comparing apples to oranges - No, I said, it's much harder because it's like there was a grafting psycho running loose and it's more like finding grapes growing on carrot tops Seems everyone offers the same things, they just blend it up differently under different plans. Some offer static IPs, but no Addon, or unlimited Addon Doms, but no PNS. It gets muddy in places I've learned over the years that one usually just get what they pay for and that setting up with a host should be a long-term relationship so one should be very careful in selecting their internet partner. I was - but in the case that leads me here, the host was unfaithful - I'm much more careful now.
Shiva
Subdomains are included on all accounts. Add-on domains are only available on reseller accounts. Having reviewed, yet again several Hosts, and returning here again, an revisiting your services, I am confused by your statement. When I view your online Cpanel features, it clearly shows "Manage Addon Domains" as a feature. Is it disabled then in a non-reseller account? And if so, are other features I saw in the preview disabled as well? Some of the other questions I had went unanswered. In particular - is Php running in Safe mode? Do you provide Invision Board, are there limits on Chats or are they disabled in Cpanel? I know I'm sounding picky, but signing up should be a long-term relationship - this time, I want to be carefull and not find surprises after signing up. Add on domains are disabled on non reseller accounts, as far as i know thats the only feature thats disabled. Some of the other questions I had went unanswered. PHP is not running in safe mode, We do provide IPB as well as PHPbb, we also provide several options for chat via cpanel...java, html and php, there is no limit on them that i am aware of. vendlus
The Manage Addon Domains is there, and you can click on it. On that page is a line that says the following.... Hint: This feature must be enabled for your account before you can use it. Addon Domains will not be functional unless the domain name is registered with a valid registrar and configured to point to our DNS servers. I'm not sure about your other questions (I decently new here as well), but they do include Invision's board as one of the scripts that are preloaded (well, you can just click the button and it loads it for you, so if you don't want it, it's not wasting your space). You can also just install it yourself if you like (which is what I did since I have some experience with it). *edit* doh! he beat me to the post
Shiva
Add on domains are disabled on non reseller accounts, as far as i know thats the only feature thats disabled. That is too bad. Most other hosts do allow it, since it simply points to a sub-domain anyway. That's the only thing now holding me back. But you might want to make it very clear to visitors viewing that link to Cpanel features that Addon Doms is disabled except for Reseller accounts. I almost spent my money - then hey - better ask to be sure. It is misleading. PHP is not running in safe modeThat is a plus since many of, at least some, PhP scripts want to create a foplder and write to it. Safe Mode prevents this. I'm glad you have it turned off. We do provide IPB as well as PHPbb, we also provide several options for chat via cpanel... Yes, I saw all of those too. by reviewing the stuff in your Web Hosting Help Site Also pointed a friend to it that had some questions as well. Sorry - but I need Addons included as I need to Addon two, very small (for now) Doms (yes - they are registered) that don't do much, but need an address. I'll keep looking, but will certainly keep recommending TCH to people I meet whose needs are not as picky as mine.
TCH-JimE
Hi, Addon's is mentioned in the Presales questions thread. Another thing which is kind of disabled is parked domains. This is disabled because we need to physically park them. Good luck in finding a host which will allow add on domains to be pointed to subdomains, as I believe that feature is quite rare. youneverknow
I really think the head guru should take the cpanel demo off the tch web site. I am sure many potential customers jump to another hosting company when they see a non working link on a hosting companies web site. I know that this demo is not hosted by tch but people get the impression it is. How about a comment that this demo is under the control of others and not tch. I almost went to another host when I was shopping around for a new one. It was not until I read all the glowing comments that swayed me here and I am glad Thumbs Up I did. Other than that my first month experience here with 2 sites has been a great. Rock Sign
shakes
shiva ... check out www.positivefusion.com ... they are a little more expensive ... but they allow 3 addon domains, and you can buy more. unfortauntely their other features aren't as wide open (i.e. you have a limited count of e-mail addy's ... but it's something like 250) their server is super fast and support is great. i have an account with them as well. I'm starting to like this place better with the exception of no addon domains. if addon domains were offered here i wouldn't go anywhere else. my .02 Edited December 14, 2003 by TCH-Dick
Shiva
shiva ... check out www.positivefusion.com ... they are a little more expensive ... but they allow 3 addon domains, Thanks. I've no problem finding hosts that allow addons, even 11 so far with UNlimited addons, 1Gig storage, 10 gig transfer yadda ... yadda... bells, whistles and such. But none of them have a forum offering contests, prizes, and a community with so many nice, and sometimes 'perky' customers One I've shortlisted to allows unlimited addons, but has safe mode On. Arg!!! Here, Safe Mode is Off - which most PhP experience folk know should be off, but don't allow standard Addons! Arrg again Just got to keep hunting I guess.
